The magic eraser wipes it off and then it is back after another blade deployment, it is not hitting anything on the way out that I can see, and I’m certainly not going to open it up. I mention this in the ad to make you all aware, and it is discounted because of this, again it looks and functions perfect, I just want to be upfront with people and frankly most probably wouldn’t even notice it as it is so small, my perfectionist gettin the best of me. Hope that helps.

Hopefully you don't mind my posting this here... just a heads up in case you weren't aware... magic erasers are essentially glass wool and they will likely scratch whatever they are applied to, albeit microscopically... I would avoid using that on any knife you cherish...
