herman knives

Tim Herman is a cantankerous curmudgeon, but I really miss having him around here. He is an incredibly talented artist.

and a good bastid too!~ :D I miss him and his humor.

I really like his stuff. It reminds me of Wolfgang Loechner's.

I'd have to say AT Barr. He is one heck of a nice guy and a gentleman.

Care to expound on that observation?

If it is the cantankerous curmudgeon part of it, OK.

If it is the knife making part of it, you need to get your eyes checked.

These aren't even my very faves. I'll dig up my absolute finest choice. I didn't shoot it.

Tim is a very good knife maker and he's a good friend of mine. The only way I'd think he's a better maker and friend is if he would finish and send me my knife. :)

Yep, I'd say his comment was meant for another thread.

Tim's knives are all masterfully done. His everyday working knives are just as stylish as his art knives, just without the embellishments.

He was at the bigger of the two knife shows that I've been to, and we had long discussion about knives. He was one of the friendliest guys there! To me at least. I'm sorry I didn't mean to stir anything up, and I can't say that I've observed his knives thoroughly, but quite frankly, I found him to be quite pleasant!

I never met Tim at a show, but I would be willing to bet that you are quite correct and that he is very friendly, but if you had run into him on this forum you would understand what I meant by my earlier comment. Tim and I had a few tiffs and he could be downright mean, but he taught me to have a thicker skin when it came to comments directed my way on a forum. Over time I gained a lot of respect for him.

I'm sorry, but I am lost as to hoe A.T. got into this thread. In your original post were you saying that Tim's knives look like those of A.T. Barr?

What has me really confused is that Tim's and A.T.'s knives don't look the least bit alike to me, and I don't find A.T. to be a cantankerous curmudgeon.

Oh well, just call me bewildered.

I had the good fortune to me TH here in NYC.
He was funny and a very real person.
I handled his marlin folder and didn't realize that it was a folder until I turned it over and saw the pocket for the blade, in the handle.
Flawless, seamless, amazing work.

Keith, are you saying ATBarr is bewildered?
;)
:D

Who's on first?

Yep, Tim makes some awesome knives. He could also be a P.I.A.
