Herters

Has anybody used one of these? I have an original that I use occasionally but not too much because I wouldn't want to lose it.

I love the looks of the design of that knife. Great price too! Do you know the thickness in it?

Herters was cool. I still have a bunch of their dies. Also I have a pair of their "hudson bay" hiking boots that my dad got me for a graduation present in 1978. They can be worn but they are way too worn out for backpacking anymore.

I still have an old Herters Catalog somewhere.

I have two of the old and one of the new ones. The Murphy's are more stout and have bigger handles. Great overall woods bumming tool.
As much hype that the old Herter's catalog had, their stuff was top notch.
At the price it's easy to buy 2 or 3 and throw them in rucks and kits or in the pick-up.

I don't know anything about the knives. I saw them mentioned in an article in Backwoodsman magazine. I may "have to" order one at that price.

There was an article in Tactical Knives maybe a year or so back that was about Herters. They look like great using blades, like Old Hickory but a step up.

Good find! Reminds me of the AG Russell Woodswalker, but larger.
