Are the former problems fixed with these knives? I have one coming in a trade, and really hope so. If by chance they are not, how is the customer service? The knife I have coming is brand new. Thanks for the info guys.

I believe so. The only issue, the locks on lionsteel knives are a little sticky. They are built very tough though!

I've had 2 HEST 2.0 and they have all been stellar.... I had a HEST version 1 and the lock slipped, I sent it in and they shipped me a new HEST 2.0 in a few days. Their customer service is top notch but i don't think you'll need it...

I had a HEST 2.0 and it was fault-free. I recently got another one, and this one has zero issues too. Thats the same story i keep hearing on the forums, so dont worry about it.

The HEST/F 2.0 are very reliable. Other than sticky titanium frame lock there are no issues. Use a sharpie to break it in if need be.

Customer service in San Diego and response times are very good.

I love this knife. For some reason it fits so good and feels great. I really think this knife has got to be one of the toughest knifes out there. I have many and this is tops by far. All around tough.

At April 2012 I bought a new HEST 2.0. A month later I sent it back (DpX suggested to send it) because of up and down play of the blade. After many emails they sent me a new one at May 2013. Yes, a year after. At least knife is absolutely perfect. It's solid rock, non sticky, very smooth, extremely sharp. Definitely a keeper.

Well, I got the knife in today. It at least appears to be stout. The lock is in fact very sticky. One thing that concerns me, is that the lock bar is about 2/3 in, on the contact. That seems like a good bit to me, for a new knife.
@Demetres, wow, that really sucks, and doesn't make me feel real warm and fuzzy. I would hope it the knife isn't right, it would take a year to get it back.

There have been problems though with other makers. Look at Strider. What are they doing about all of the old locks out there, that crapped the bed? They even went to a new lock syle as well.

Have had a 2.0 for about 6 months now and has held up extremely well. Has very minimal to no up/down play depending on the force flicked open, but that is easily eliminated by the 'rotating lock.' Great steel and a good value IMO, I love mine as well.

My HEST/F 2.0 T3 has the lock bar at 80% now and the Milspec at 60%. I had sticky lock issue on both and it took many applications of sharpie and open/close cycles. I did send the T3 to San Diego due to the sticky lock because it was so bad. Got it back a week later a tiny bit better. Eventually, fixed it myself with more sharpie treatment. They're both very solid.

So what do you do, on a knife like this, that has a lock bar, when it wears to 100%??? I have concerns about this. If it is at 70%, brand new, then how long could it possibly go? And when it does head south, then what? Thanks for the 2 bones? That will be the last 2 bones they would see out of me. Just curious, I really want to like this knife, I just have a few concerns. Thanks guys.

Personally, I'm not too concerned since the lock up hasn't shifted much.

I'd like to see all titanium lock bars include a replaceable steel insert. That eliminates stickiness plus if lockup becomes an issue you just replace the steel insert. LionSteel SR-1 & SR-2 have these.

I agree with the replaceable part. But what do you do in other circumstances?

Well, I reprofiled my HEST tonight. That is some really good steel. I have a couple of other knives in D2, and am a fan of the steel in general. The DPX D2, is by far the hardest D2, that I have sharpened. I had to bust out the DMT's on it. I polished it at around 25 degrees, and put a 40 micro on it. This thing will burn hair off of you, and slice newspaper with ease. I really hope this knife lasts the test of time. Provided it does, I will be buying a few more.

Whether your lockbar is early or late and how it wears seems to depend.

I have a couple of Buck Vantages with lockbars that arrived at 70 percent or so and eventually went to nearly 100 percent. The locks on both still work fine. C.J. Buck told me not worry unless the lock fails.

I have had a lock fail on one of the new light-weight A.G. Russell Skorpion's. It cut the heck out of me, so you can bet I am darn careful about any lock failing.

It's also not unusual for Sebenzas to arrive with the lockbar at 70 percent. I have several that arrived that way and the lock hasn't changed on any of them.

The CRK models are known for having high tolerances. Of course, they start at close to $400.

No one likes having to send knives in for repair. I prefer to buy from a dealer who can help with repairs or else a manufacturer with a reputation for fast and competent service.

My lock bars haven't shifted much... Yet. If it gets to 100% I'll resort to the RotoBlock and lock it in place like a fixed blade knife.

I get that. However, I would just as soon the knife work as intended, when I bought it. I really like this knife! I really want to keep liking it. I guess in the end run, I hope that their CS is up to par, if ever needed. That's all I could ask for.
