Ok let me start off, I really like ESEE and I am not a troll.

I really want to get a hest and wanted to know the negatives of it. I can figure most the possitives and negatives but wanted to make sure I won't regret it.

It's too short to make a good chopper.
It's too short to scratch my back with the scraper.

The coating keeps me from seeing my reflection in it.
How can I shave without seeing what I'm doing?

But I could lash it to a stick and wa bam it's a chopper. I could stand in front of a mirror and wabam I can shave. And besides why do you need to shave??

And I could make a scraper with it lol. Thanks for the helpful comments. I don't know where I'd be with out Your help.

the only gripe i've really seen is the prybar pommel... but seems more people who have it like the prybar than dislike it. i haven't handled one, so i can't give any first hand info.

Well, after carrying my HEST everyday for the past 4 months or so, the only negative I can think of would be...nothing. Short answer is that it doesn't carry much different than my old RAT-3, it is slightly longer and the blade is thicker, but I don't notice it at all. The pry hooks on my shirt or coat once in a while, but it is nothing that would make it a deal breaker. I carry it horizontal in a custom sheath, and I forget it is there. It is my "If I get caught with only one tool" tool option.

I think you will either love it or leave it. That seems to be the way that people feel about the HEST.

The pry bar doesn't get in the way for me at all. In fact, it makes a nice thumb rest on a reverse stabbing hold. The knife is awesome, the thing just exudes confidence. It ain't no delicate shrinking violet, it's an in your face rugged piece of practicality that I wouldn't be without. I have read the negatives and all I can think is that the people that didn't like it were just expecting something else. BTW, it chops fine.

I loved the HEST, except for the scales, which I thought were very uncomfortable, (I like full 4 finger scales) and the bottle opener, which is right where I rest my thumb when cutting. :(

I love the function of the prybar but I don't care for it for the most part.

I also prefer a thinner knife in that size.

Aside from that I really like it.

There was another post awhile back about taking the scales and turning them around. I did with mine and liked the scales a lot better that way. JMHO

I like the HEST's grip with the prybar better than I like the RC3's, it just feels 10x more secure when you grab it. The handle is definately big enough for large hands so I don't think the prybar would get in the way. It does have a thick blade, but I like it that way-the grind still allows for superb slicing and the beefyness of it just reinforces the truth that this knife could take a nuke and still keep cutting.

I love my H•E•S•T, I have nothing bad to say about it and I find the prybar pretty useful!

I really dont like the prybar personally. I dont pry with my knives anyways, so it just looks like a catchy annoying thing to me

Finally broke down and ordered the hest last week. Should be here from tkc tomorrow. I got it mostl just to round out the collection, but I'm going to edc it for a month and see how it goes
