my take...there are NO negatives about the HEST...it is a unique design with multiple functional elements, so it's a lot more than just a sharp edge...if you're working hard to build some biases against it, then the knife is not for you...
the prybar is a VERY distinctive feature of the HEST; don't buy the blade if you think the prybar isn't useful, stick with the RC3; an outstanding "single purpose" blade...
i had a friend tell me that if he bought the HEST he'd grind down the prybar...i told him wouldn't be easier to buy a similar blade without a prybar?...awkward silence from him at this point...
