I ordered an LE which might be a safe Queen and have a regular on order as well

i ordered a sterile le. if i like it and keep it, ill certainly use it.

for the price, it was impossible not to order.

I don't think the goal of the numbered first run is to create a shelf queen knife. Its a way to reward early adopters and fans with a great deal on a short run knife.

I don't know why they would be worth more if you just put them away for your grandkids. When I am dead I am sure all kinds of junk will appear on Ebay but hopefully folks will be hesitant to part with their favorite knife.

When the DPx line gets established and more folks wonder how it all got started I am sure people will want a collectible one but for now they are made to be used...and enjoyed.

Mine will be a user, though it's not a limited edition. I've got a production model on reserve at the knife connection.

This thread has been rattling around in my brain for a few days. Before reading this question, it never occured to me that anyone wouldn't use it....as usual, I am OK with "missing something" if it doesn't mean anything to me, but I did want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

I did a google search and glocktalk search on "Collectable Glocks"....and I found some very early Glocks, or some made a bit differently that most, some the owners wondered if they were collectable, etc...but I found them to be sold at regular (or even less) prices, or traded for other models - with no real markup.

I've always considered all the RC/ESEE knives to be sorta the "Glocks of the knife world"

As I said, I know NOTHING of collecting anything, as it's just not me...but at least I did the search...
I hope each person who is/was lucky enough to get one of these folders does whatever they want to with theirs,

Now I can at least get on to better questions in my idle brain time! lol! :)

Between me and the misses we have three that will remain unused, purchased as speculative investments. Glad to see there will be a lot of users!

Maybe down the road I will buy a regular run as a user. I am happy with my current folder for now.

I know I'm in the minority, but #27 Mr. DP and #28 Mr. Sterile are tentatively scheduled to be "safe queens"... not really doing it for speculative purposes, but more for me to be able to periodically fondle and drool over. That said, I also have a "regular" HEST/F on order for EDC use and and abuse. Someday I will probably pocket the first run folders, but for now I want to enjoy them in a "pristine" state. It took me almost 3 years before I could bring myself to pocket my small Sebenza... :)

I'm pretty sure the LE models are still made from Ti, G10, and D2 - so they should be plenty strong enough for everyday use.

(sarcasm, people.)

I pre-ordered two of the numbered versions, #62 & #63, both RH one Mr. DP, the other one Sterile. I also pre-ordered a production version from Knife Works. The two numbered are getting put away, the production will be a user.

You can never have too many knives....

i guarantee the le versions, with their numbering, packaging, and variant tool, will bring a premium on the secondary market.

i have #4 mr dp right handed on order and plan on it being my new edc version. i also have a regular version on order from brads knives here in indy so who knows what will go down but i will definitely use them both

I am getting #21 LE but it will most likely I will carry it, but I also have a regular preordered too. I know that one will be with me at all times.

The DPx HEST/F is yours to do whatever you want with. But I design and price these Limited Editions to give early adopters a better deal for taking a risk and ordering early. When the knife comes out and the reviews are in, and everyone starts wishing they had bought one. Well you will be staring at your DPx HEST/F, smiling.
