Well RYP, I gotta give it to you - next to Lemmy and Jeff you're a cool dude in your own right. Actually I've been meaning to ask, even though it's off topic, is there a list of all the places you visited over the years?

" is there a list of all the places you visited over the years?"

not really. I stopped counting after 120 countries and that doesn't count places them weren't even countries like Khwahatooli, Chechnya, Mekamui, Somaliland, Kurdistan, etc) about a quarter of those (36) were active conflict or wars and the rest were just places you have to stop in to get to those other places. I have never been to Portugal, Ireland, China or even Scotland. But I am saving the nice places for when I am old and stupid.

I just wish they had still had wars in places like Vietnam, Thailand and Hawaii instead of Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia!

By the time you get old, you will know where you need to be and think going anywhere else is stupid! :D All I need to do to visit "Dangerous Places" is go to the Walmart parking lot at night this time of year.

Well what is old anyway?
But yea I can see your point, that would be one hell of a list. And I asked for obvious reasons to see if you ever visited us during the 90s

I'm glad the HEST fixed blade will still be produced.I was bummed to find out that ESEE was discontinuing that model.Stainless will be a good option for salt water environments.Living on the Oregon coast I can appreciate that feature.I don't suffer rust on my carbon blades though,I know how to care for them. But,it will still be cool!:thumbup:

For 2011 we are going to step up our game on the fixed blade HEST. Look for a high end stainless with an unusual coating and a non ferrous EOD/maritime version.

Any plans for an uncoated, H-1 version?

The dimensions of the DPx HEST fixed blade will not change. I spent a lot of time getting that ergonomic feel right. But I have also had two years of living with my arsenal of HESTs and plenty of jungle/desert/mountain time to think through every square inch of its surface. So ergo the HEST II that awaits being brought to life like Frankenstein.

That doesn't mean that the original HEST isn't my fave and that it won't be a staple of our catalog. I love the spring steel, old pickup truck reliability, bash the shit out of it and lovin it, comfortable as an old pair of boots kinda feel.

Excellent news!!! looking forward to that. .. :)

I would really LOVE to see a Fixed Blade H.E.S.T made in A2 or D2!!! I am extremely happy with my carbon steel H.E.S.T though, and I am glad to know that I can still count on the Warranty from ESEE! because I am really hard on knives...

Please, when you start making the new HESTS make the hardware stainless. I was planning in suggesting it to ESEE, but they font make it anymore so it doesn't matter. But I carry my knife every day about against my stomach. It's hot where I live so I sweat allot, and about every time I take off my scales to clean them (one side is normal 2x as dark as the other) the screws are corroded together. Please please fix that.

I would love to see a longer 4-4.5 bladed HEST with a larger handle. Make the handle big enough to carry phillips/slotted bits for a hex drive. Combine the bottle opener/wire cutter. Same thickness. Deeper jimping on the thumb rest. Serrations on the top forward part of the blade. (I cut alot of rope).

When you say high end stainless? What grade are you thinking 440c, N690co, AUS8, cpm-154?

Just found 2 on the Bay. Guess I'll have a user and a keeper, at least until the #2 version comes out. Love my ESEE's so we have to give this DPx a chance!

Man, I started looking late last week, and two vendors had just sold out, but quite a few places still had them. Now, I see nothing. Nada. The fleaBay may be your best shot at this point.

ETA: Listed at knifeworks as of this post: "These are being discontinued and will not be produced anymore, we will have around 240 of these left for sale until they are all gone."

Sounds like folks have a little time if that number is even close.
