How To Hex Bit Driver for 1996 Leatherman Wave

I thought you could use another idea. Wiha makes a tiny bit set and ratchet that is the handiest tool I've ever purchased (and I also have a lot of tools). It's probably a bit smaller than a Leatherman and the metal case makes it tough. A fella could fit it in a pocket or even a belt sheath. The bits a very, very good quality.

Not sure if I'm allowed to post an active link to an external site, so I'll dump the address below for you to copy and paste. :)

I can only imagine, but it must be brutal.

I have this klein set. I like it a lot. I carry extra bits in one of those rubber coin purses. You squeeze and it opens. View attachment 2483832
I think I'd rather just sell my old Leatherman, and get a new multitool with a hex bit driver. There are only a few bits I need. The only problem I've been having, is that I can't find one with both a hex bit driver, and scissors. I guess the multitool manufacturers think we don't need scissors. I find them very useful.

jeesh! Thats a lot to deal with. I’m sorry for trolling you.

Good luck on your search for a bit driver
No worries. People often ask me "why don't you do this or that", because they know that I know how to do it. It's just too much when I struggle to get through the basics of each day. Today I actually replaced the tailgate struts on my 2011 Xterra Pro-4X. I'll be lying down all of tomorrow.

Sorry to comment on an old post, but I'm going back to the whole 1/4" hex bit adapter thing. I have a plastic do-it-all separator box that I use for almost every task. I just used it today, to tighten the screws on a tomahawk sheath. I honestly don't need a dedicated hex bit driver, because I keep that box in my vehicle. I even have a 1/4" ratchet in there, with an extender, a universal joint, and most of the Imperial and metric sockets I need. I literally have every type of hex bit anyone would need. It's extremely handy. I don't have to put extra pressure on my spine by carrying my heavy tool box out to my vehicle, when I need to fix something small.

Regarding a 1/4" hex bit adapter for my original Leatherman Wave, I own a lot of knives and camping equipment with small screws, bolts, and nuts that need to be tightened. The fasteners on knife handle scales, folding knives, and knife sheaths, typically aren't Phillips or flathead. They're typically torx or Allen. I've even seen fasteners that require square bits. I realize I don't go back country camping anymore, due to my disabilities. Consequently, I always have my SUV when I got camping. But, if manage to get healthy enough to go back country camping and/or hunting again, I'd like to have the correct bits to tighten the fasteners that need tightening.

I think I'm going to install a hex bit driver that takes up one half of the interior of my original Leatherman Wave. I can put the scissors, can opener, and any other tools that will fit on the other side. It seems wasteful to spend money on a new, expensive multi tool, when my original Wave still works well. Yes, the interior tools don't lock like newer multi tools, but it's honestly not that big of a deal.

Sounds like a good plan. If you can post pictures of your mods.

Fix it Sticks has some pretty nifty bit drivers if anyone is trying to put together a reasonable set of portable tools.
