We are putting on a giveaway for our valued customers. This is our way of showing our appreciation to the more than 2300 plus knifemakers who have purchased Bubble Jigs over the last Six years. We have shipped to every part of the globe, Australia, Austria, Amsterdam and the Aleutian Islands. There is a knife maker living within 200 miles of the North Pole who grinds with this tool. It has been a great experience for us meeting all these different knifemakers.

To join in go to
http://bubblejig.com/contest/contest.php and post a picture of a blade you've ground using the Bubble Jig.

This giveaway will run for 60 days and is open to grinders, world wide. The winner will receive a personalized jet black Bubble Jig along with a 250.00 steel order of your choice, from Aldo Bruno the New Jersey Steel Baron.

If you have questions just ask.

Happy grinding, Fred

Fred,
Thanks for doing this.

No small business survives for six years without a good product and good customer relations. You have both. Congratulations.

Done and done.

Thanks Fred

The bubble jig helped a lot on learning to free hand grind. Currently I find it indispensable grinding clips, swedges and putting on an edge.

That's very generous of you Fred. I'll be ordering one for my birthday in August! I love buying things from businesses that care about their customers.

Wow, what a generous giveaway! Thank you very much Fred and Aldo! :D I entered a picture of what I believe was the very first blade I ever ground using the bubble jig after I got it over 3 years ago, it's the the small "dao" shaped blade with the hamon. I have better "finished" knives I could have posted, but I was very proud of the bevels I had achieved, by hand, without a fixed jig. It was like night and day and I must thank you for making grinding that much more achievable for new commers as well as for makers who don't really have free handing come naturally, even after a lot of practice, who can really use a visual aid.

As of late, my buble jig has been spending most of it's time creating the first steep grind at say, 12 degrees. Once that foundation has been laid, I can keep them fairly consistant without the jig. But it's also perfect those times the bevels just don't wanna cooperate :o . I bought mine from you without the "file quide" since I couldn't afford it and the jig at the time. I have stopped using it for the complete grind because the crappy "file guide" that I had made was such a pain to get perfectly parallel to the ricasso, and to make it stay parallel once it was, in order that each side of the blade would be ground at the same angle. Should've got that guide! :foot:

lol Anyway, I figured a little bit of my bubble background would be appropriate here. Thanks again for the chance at such an awesome giveaway!

Just for kicks I'll post the picture I entered on your site here as well. "My very first bubble jig grind on a piece of Aldo's 1/4" W2 that I did a little over 3 years ago." ;)

Some where around 11 or 12 percent of knife makers world wide grind with a Bubble Jig in one way or another. They are either like Adam, using it to grind swedges or false edges and putting the edge on just finished knife blades. Or like Paul who uses one to set the original edge bevels. Or like me, who has ground a 1,000 blades using this tool. Tracy Mickley over @ KD did some research and he is the one who came up with the number of 20,000 active knife makers, worldwide. Thats how I figure the number of Bubble Jig users is at about 11 or 12 percent. Hundreds of Bubble Jig owners are members of Blade Forums. So I ask, why aren't you posting on our giveaway site? The prize that goes to the winner is not chopped liver :)

After talking with hundreds of knife makers, around the world, over the last six years; I've come to the conclusion that many people feel they are in some way taking an unfair advantage. They can't believe how their grinds go from terrible to amazing in a matter of days.:eek::tickled_pink::tickled_pink: It's almost embarrassing. Its that old "free hand" demon :devilish::devilish: More than once a new knife maker has said to me, "its like I discovered a secret that I don't want anyone to know about" No Joke!

So let me assure you, its cool to grind with a Bubble Jig, I've been doing it for ten years and I'm exceptionally cool:glee::glee:
Working smarter is what separates us from the lower animals. Grinding with a Bubble Jig is working smarter.

My son, Kevin and I have put up a 350.00 prize to celebrate our six years in business and we encourage all of you who work smarter, :) to join in this celebration.

Happy grinding, Fred & Kevin Rowe

Thank you my friend, your comment makes me feel 20 years younger :)

Your one of the good ones, Fred

Just put up a pic/entered with one of my faux ivory hunters. I never win anything but I do think you got a good thing going Fred. Cheers!

Very Cool! I just bought my Bubble Jig yesterday. I still haven't made my first knife yet....so the knife I photograph likely wont be too sexy! :)

Hope it gets here soon!

It went out this morning; you should have it by Tuesday. Post a pic of that first blade and don't forget to put the BJ in the photo.

Good luck, Fred

I'll have to get one together. Thanks for the generosity and congratulations for turning an idea into a successful product! I love mine.

I'm a bit shocked that there are only THREE entries??!!  Is this also posted over in the KD forum, Fred?

By the way, should I enter a different knife that has the bubble jig next to it in the pic? That one I entered is long gone and that's the only pic I have of it now, but it's no big deal if another pic is needed with the bubble jig, just wanna make sure I'm following the rules. I understand that is pretty much the only way to prove that people aren't cheating and entering knives not ground using one. I could post a pic of my jig in here if that would be easier.

Anyway, if people really aren't entering because they are ashamed of saying they use a bubble jig, shame on them... and more chances for those of us who aren't ashamed to win these epic gifts!! :D ;)

Thanks again Fred!! :)

I can't find my bubble jig! I don't know if I lost it in the move or it is still stored back home in MS. Can we enter without it in a pic? I do have plenty of blades that I ground with it, that are sadly waiting to be finished.

Paul,

i prefer them on the giveaway site, but one here is fine as long as I have a pic to produce if you win. Thanks, Fred

The photo is part of the contest and to be fair I have to be able to produce a photo with the BJ in it to be fair to others who enter.

So does that mean I would be entered in twice if I post another knife with the buble jig in the pic on the site, since I already posted the one I shared on here above? Or would you be able to edit or delete my previous entry, so that I can still choose the same number I picked?

That's what I meant by being "easier" .. If it would be easier for you that I just take a picture of my bubble jig proving I have one and just post here in the thread, as opposed to having to edit the site etc..

Sorry, either way is completely fine by me, I am only asking which way would prefer in order that it be less of a hassle on your end :)

Thanks!

I know you have a Bubble Jig, its in my records. The pic is only for the sake of fairness to others. Posting the pic on this thread is fine. If you are the winner, I can copy and past this photo when announcing the winner.

No problem Paul, Fred
