"ALL Things Wood.Net" lists Desert Ironwood as 3080 on the Janka Scale. But it also lists Mountain Mohogany as 3200. But Ironwood has a Higher Specific Gravity. 1.15 for Ironwood and 1.12 for Mountain Mahogany.
Cool post. I'm chopping black locust mostly which can be a pain in the tail. At 1700 its towards, but not at the top. I'd hate to chop something harder........or maybe I'd love to.

firewood (almond, oak, walnut, prune) not sure why, but it rolled
the edge and one microscopic chip.
