the acraglas gel is much thicker than regular epoxy. that's what I have (now discontinued at brownells) :(

I think HD has the regular stuff.

Pen, Brownells still has the gel, and BTW, they also sell the release agent for use on your barrelled action when using AG, and it should work great on khuks as well. Better than oil I would expect. (?)

I wanted the AG strictly for use as an epoxy, so bought the Acra-quik 20, that gives a 20 minute setup time. They also have the Acra-quik 5. This is standard epoxy and not the stuff you mix up for bedding or other work. It comes with an expensive ($28) dispensing gun, and 1.8 oz. of the epoxy (which is $11 separately). It has these disposable dispensing tubes that run about 1.25 each, that you snap onto the gun, trim for bead size, and then dispose of. The epoxy comes with 2 tubes and 5 more is about $7. I don't mind paying the one-time for the gun, or the epoxy, but the dispensing tubes seem overpriced although they work great and are just the thing for controlling the flow and getting into tight spots.

Finally, I bought black, brown and white base dyes that can be used to mix with the epoxy before it sets up to create different colors. (QUestion: someone else told me what they mixed with std. epoxy to dye it black and I can't recall. ?)

The Acra-quik 20 can be mixed with the dye, but not the 5 minute stuff.

Anyway, they have new gel package also, and are pushing the release agent. You should find everything on their website at www.brownells.com.

I take it the std. Acra-glas does not have all this dispensing stuff, but is just mixed up and applied?

Regards,

Norm
