Hey everybody, long time gone but back now

Well, Tooj said there would be a couple "surprises" at the SHOT show in jan. I'm dreaming that it might be the Machax.

i'm almost tempted to hit the SHOT show... if i knew more about it ;)

the blade 2009 show was mind boggling. not an expensive weekend really. i might want to do that again. driving down, if the car could make it, might be funner. i dunno :>

I now have some good news about the return of the MAGNUM CAMP......Tooge is sending production samples this week to me and to Brother Fisk.....When Jerry and I sign off on the samples there will be KNIVES...SOON.....

I can't possibly emphasize my happiness upon reading this. One of my favorite knives is being resurrected.

The only thing better than having a BK&T Magnum Camp is having two of them. Thanks Ethan!

BTW, there's an old WW2 vet out here who has been using his BK7 around the farm and he dearly loves his Becker knife. His grandson (Dept of Wildlife officer) bought one recently too and he's been carrying it and using it. His son (age 16) is getting a Campanion for Xmas.

Look what I started:D

Hey Guys....

Thanks for the big welcome......Tooge was down to the International Headquarters of BK&T here on Half Moon Ridge after Rep Weekend at Smokey Mountain Knifeworks We had a grand old time whacking the crap out of stuff in the shop using some of the larger blades in my "reference collection".........He did appear to be very enamored of how well the thinner Cincy era Machax went thru things with so little effort......I have hope......

I am anxiously awaiting the MAGNUM CAMP protos and have every expectation the Ka-Bar incarnation will be the best yet....... and...... THIS time I pray Jerry Fisk gets some royalties....You have no idea how embarrasseed I am that I have talked Brother Fisk into not One, But TWO money losing deals....He still speaks to me but, he cast a wary eye my way when I talked him into a third try.......

All best,

ethan

Bladite,

SHOT Show rocks. Big kid play ground. And you can always find things to purchase especially the last day. Rooms and airfare are pretty cheap this year due to the economic downturn. If you are serious about heading out there I am sure that a badge can be found for you.

i'm sure that being in las vegas, they have world class booth talent ;) cheap to fly there usually.

bummer it's not Summer, they have a wave pool for surfing around there ;)

MMMM, i've got a convention i'm already going to from the 15-17/18th... and shot is 19-22nd ... short notice too. drat.

must contemplate this when i'm more alert.

Blade 2009 though, MMMMMMM; i lucked out last year with a VIP pass at the door from some kind gent - that was fun.

Any chance the Brute , Machax or Becker/Rienhart Khukuri will return?

my guess is, in order:

o brute - oh hell no

o machax - probably (hey, think positive)

o Reinhardt - unlikely due to size (as with patrol machete)

Welcom back, Ethan, hope to see great pics and more great news about the Magnum.

my guess is, in order:

o brute - oh hell no Why do you say this? With so many guys bragging how they like them you'd think there'd be demand. However, I can understand if there are better designs, like I think the BK-9 is better than my Brute.

o machax - probably (hey, think positive) I know there are many guys out there that would like to get their hands on this one, me included. Doesn't that help?

o Reinhardt - unlikely due to size (as with patrol machete) Thanks for the reason! :)

o Because the original MachAx (which might be the basis for the new MachAx) was a better chopper overall (imho), and because... very unlikely. Now, if they do make such a model again, I'd buy one, but I'm just going to, again guess, this is a dead end - not gunna happen - move along - nothing to see - nope - naddah - nuh uh! Get one from ePray/Exchange. Plus there's plenty of nice bolos on the market, if you MUST have something in that shape (Siegles are lovely)

o I'm gunna sweet talk Ethan into this if it kills me :>

o If you search back a bit, esp in the early posts in the forum, I think they provided cogent technical information. Short answer: not going to happen due to size (both are too long for tooling).

If I remember correctly, K-Bar simply doesn't have a grinder large enough for blades that length. Sure, they could have them made offshore, but that's NOT what Mr. Becker wants to do. Becker's should be made in America.
