Hey everyone, I have a serious question.

A carbon-bladed Opinel can be had for this price range; a solid hard-use knife that is well within your budget!

The recommendation for the Buck 110 is also a good one, though at near thirty dollars is a bit more than your stated budget. I very much like this design---it should definitely be on your check list, as it is a classic. I have one in my pocket right now!

A Kershaw Needs Work would also be a good knife to add to the list, can be had on popular auction sites, stores, and shows for under twenty-five dollars, and it's a great little knife with a rock-solid liner lock, SpeedSafe, and a great Sandvik steel wharncliffe blade.

Oh, and welcome to BladeForums! :)

Next to the incredible value for money Opinels, I found a true gem within your price range.
Here you can buy the Eka Swede 88 for only $17.95. Usually it's around $30.
That's a very good lockback made in Sweden by a company with more than 100 years experience, and the steel is excellent Sandvik 12C27. The knife is light yet sturdy with excellent ergonomics (you won't accidentally slip your hand on the blade). Really, this knife is a bargain at the price. And it has oh so much more soul than the typical chinese knives in this price segment.

Still hesitating? There was a discussion here with a short review with more pics.

buying $10 knives will be like buying $10 coins. The same amount of satisfaction.

AG, in general I agree, but I think that you will agree on the qualities of the Eka (and of Eka knives in general) that give more value than what one would expect at $18, correct?

Welcome Reckon! I'd say you should save up a little more to get a better quality knife that you won't end up being disappointed with. But if you're stuck on getting a blade in the $10-20 range, you can't go wrong with a Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. You really owe it to yourself to check it out; it's a lot of blade for the money.

Check this site:

www.yourcornerstore.com

It sells the CS Pocket Bushman for about $20 and they ship pretty fast too :thumbup::thumbup: .

Hi welcome to BF, for 10-20 dollars and since its your first knife (im quessing) I would go with the swiss army classic SD in stayglow, or any othe swiss army classic.

I didn't bother reading what everyone else had to say (yet) but Spyderco Byrd knives, Ka-Bar Dozier immediately come to mind.

Ok, I don't have a knife yet. I was hoping to start off cheap at first. I'm willing to spend 10$ to 20$ on a knife, maybe a tad bit more, not sure yet.

What would be a good manufacture? Can I get a decent blade for a price as low as this?

Thank you for your time! I appreciate! :D
Go to Walmart and get a Buck 110.
It will only cost you about $28.00 dollars and you'll have an American Classic.
It is an excellent knife with a very long and rich history behind it.

And it's beautiful too....

Case Sodbuster Jr. or Buck 110. My two "lowest priced" knives that get "alot" of use! I truly believe every collection should have a Sodie and a 110. Have fun, M

In that price range I would definitely check out the Spyderco Byrd line.

Mora's are a great buy. You will come to learn that they have a bit of a following here on BF's. They are a great knife for the money. I would recomend a Victorinox ALOX Farmer and a Mora 510
