I was wondering if I could get some close up pics of your sheath. I'm thinking about doing the same carry method with my Koster. Crossdraw via a carabiner. Any tips on making the sheath?
Hi, shotgun.
Thanks for having interest in my works!
I wish these pics could help your project.
overall view with a binar.
detail of the hole.
it was done with wood working drill bit of 13mm diameter.
I carry my blade like this these days. this reduces the sheath swinging, yet quick enough to attach/detach to sling.
hole detail from other side. another small hole for carrying firesteel.
This is view from the top.
Fixture pin detail shot. made from 3mm brass pin cut to slightly longer size of the folded kydex sheet
and hammered. Quite robust, effective as well as cheap
Thanks for the pics. The knife I'm going to make it for is the new Koster Bushcraft so it'll have a bit of a guard so I'm not sure how far I'll be able to get the kydex up the handle. I'm going to have to do some creative thinking to get the balance just right to be able to hang it right side up.I do really like your carry system and the loop of cord through the sheath instead of the biner is a slick solution to the swinging.
So the kydex must be extended back to near the end of the handle to achieve nice balance, while edge side must have
enough space in the handle section for the guard, at the same time keeping integral looking and hold the knife well.
