And could use some of your guidance. I actually found this place after watching a Youtube video and then a Google image search for a camp knife that peaked my interest. There are hundreds of Images from you folks from this site with some very beautiful knives. Blades I never knew existed. Some really incredible stuff. Anyway, I was researching larger camp blades when I stumbled on a video with knife called a Scrap Yard SOG or SOD?? I can't remember exactly. So I did an image search which led me here. Once here I poked around quite a bit so as not to sound like a complete noob. Found out the Busse company makes it. Unfortunately I'm still stuck. (some of you have insane, amazing collections for the record) I'm blown away by the cost of some of the knives let alone some of you have many if them! Thankfully the Scrap Yard Knife I like seems on the low end of the spectrum which is fine cause I couldn't afford much more at this time in my life. I might be over doing it as it is. I saw one was for sale on here in a selling area but it didn't last long. Also looked on ebay, there's one for sale now but it has another knife with it in a pair with a plastic sheath. I don't really need the extra knife or want to cough up the extra dollars for it. I went on the scrapyard site and couldn't find one there, infact everything there is sold out. It's not on the Busse site either. I looked for a sub forum for scrapyard here and couldn't locate one either. I figured this would be my best shot. Is scrap yard still a thing? Or maybe not making them anymore? If anyone knows more or could help, I'd appreciate it. Feel like I'm chasing a ghost! A place to buy one would be great also!
Thanks for reading, Sorry if I'm a complete idiot.

alot of the knives offered by busse, scrapyard and swamprat are offered on a limited basis. fortunately many of these blades pop up in the for sale section often in mint condition. the scrap yard is still around. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AUDKETY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 i believe that the scrapyard has just switched to a new format where they are producing knives in small batches and add them to the website as they are available.
hope this helps

If you don't get the chance to buy what you are looking for directly from one of the three members of the Busse Knife Group, you have to haunt the various exchanges and auction sites, searching for your grail blade and hope that, when you find it, you can afford it (or decide to go for it anyway and figure out how to pay for it later: Ramen and tomato soup for a month? Uh, OK.) and that you can pounce quickly enough to get it before someone else does. You could also try posting in the "Want To Buy" section of the exchange here. Good luck and welcome to the insanity. Bet you can't buy just one.

Welcome pal! Keep reading up on these blades. Check out a Swamp Rat Ratmandu. For what you are looking for that may meet all your needs. You will not be disappointed with any Busse-Kin blade you purchase. Welcome to the madness and enjoy the fellowship here, you will be amazed at the generosity of these guys.

The Scrapyard 711 is pretty comparable to the SOD, with SR101 instead of SR77. It is much more recent and was also available for a lot longer, so it would probably be a lot easier to find.

There is also the Scrapyard Regulator, if you don't mind the Bowie shape. Also SR101, more recent, and easier to find

^^^ This. It's big enough to handle most camp chores, while being small enough to still be usable for more delicate tasks like food prep.

Also of note is the warranty, which covers all Busse, Swamp Rat, and Scrapyard knives, and which is literally bulletproof. In fact, there was a link somewhere to a warranty claim regarding a TGLB being shot with a high powered rifle. The only damage suffered was the handle scales got chewed up some. They were, of course, replaced. If you break your knife for any reason, ANY reason, you're covered. But the good news is that I doubt you'll ever even need to bother with the warranty. Their knives are that overbuilt.

I too was a newb when I first showed up. And I still am. But I lurk here daily, and the group of guys and gals here are among the friendliest and most helpful souls you're ever likely to come across. Welcome to the madness. Strap yourself in and freeze your credit cards. :D

Thanks! I checked that one out, I have a few blades around that size. Although I'm sure I'll be trying to replace those soon after finding this place. I realize now, I own nothing but junk! Oh well! Guess I'll have to start over!
sorry i accidently pasted the wrong link. this is the right one http://www.scrapyardknives.com/knives/
No worries sir. I thought I was the butt of some inside forum joke or something

I searched the 711 Thanks! I also thought sr77 and sr101 were knives. I'll keep this one in mind. the 101 being a better steel. though I'm sure I'd love any of them!

They're all beautiful. I've been in here since I got off work today and man have I seen some works of art. some really amazing stuff. Funny I just started a paypal account linked the card and the bank account! I'll be broke in a week!

Welcome to the best group of knife folks out there. Stick around and lock up your wallet.

Welcome! I'm a certified newbie still, but have had nothing but great experiences here. +1 on the Ratmandu, while researching mine I read that it was the 30.06 of knives, you'll see why.

I've only been hanging around here the last few months myself. Wish I had found this place much, much sooner. The SOD (son of dogfather) was my first bussekin knife. Bought it at knob creek some years ago. Always wanted more. Bought 2 swamp rat offerings this knob creek, and have purchased several more bussekin here since then.

My knife buying is now interfering with my gun buying!

Fwiw, anyone who tells you you need at least one piece of infi, is giving good advice! ;-)

Welcome to the family. Great group of people here. If you have any questions, ask away. Heck half these guys know more about these knives than I do. LOL

Welcome ilyk! The RMD or 711 would be a great first Bussekin knife!
