Well not really, but I helped alot.

I've been hanging out with Mark Williams of MW Forge so in addition to learning to use knives I'm learning to make them too.

This was my/our first attempt. I did most of the handle shaping and end finishing. I did the guard, screwed it up and then Mark showed me how to fix it. You can't see it in the pics but the guard and the butt cap are stippled with a ball peen hammer and antiqued. It's a hidden tang, but it doesnt go all the way though and is pretty thick. The cross on the back was Mark's idea, but I shaped the butt cap which was surprisingly easy.

The guard and butt cap are copper, the domed tacks are brass. The mosaic pin is one we made and is brass and copper pipe. The handle is paduk finished with Tru Oil. The blade is 1080 clay coated heat treat, queched in oil and etched with FeCl to bring out the hammy. 17 1/8" from tip to tail and I'd guess 18-20 oz.

It was a blast and once I finish the sheath I want to start on another project.

WOW! That is a beautiful blade VHD:eek:

Nice work:) I would love to own something like that--no smoke blowing, I really mean it.

I'm awestruck. I've got to add a forge and anvil to my shop.

Nice Job. You must be real happy.

Say, I'm confused- is Mark Williams the same guy who used to have a avatar of the cat?

Great looking knife. I especially like that forging scale left on the spine.

Great start and a great job, looking forward to seeing your next creation where you do most of the work! :D ;)

VampireHunter?

I think Mark is jealous. He refers to you as the "finished student."

Watchyerback.

Beautiful work.

That IS nice. Interesting mix of styles.
