I just got a NMSFNO from the Busse Company Store . The handles are called black but every time I look at them I say man those are beautiful GREEN Handles .

:D

that's the nature of canvas micarta. try wetting it down with water, it'll turn darker in color. if you like the look you can also use mineral oil for a longer lasting color. it will also turn darker with use, my game warden use to have handle's that green. now after lot's of use they are a real dark green black. hope this help's.

Send it to me for color confirmation. That's a nice blade, I'd be happy to assist you.

The handle will get darker with prolonged use, the oils from your skin give micarta a nice patina.

I'm a Micarta Specialist---send it to me.
Don't you water down that handle.

Yep - that's normal for 'black' micarta. I like it!

I usually team my 'black' micarta handled knives up with a green spec-ops sheath, although my NMSFNO black/black looks good in its Buy Brown green kydex.

Hey thanks for the imput . I look foward to giving her a good BEATING !!!!:D I will post some pics after she gets a good BEATING .

Great looking knife! And welcome aboard... as said previously, mineral oil will darken it up real nice, if you like.

Now go beat the crap out of it! She'll love you for it...

As folks have said, mineral oil and the natural oils from your skin with use over time will darken it. The use of mineral oil will not, BTW, make it more difficult to hold on to. However, I prefer handles that are made darker with prolonged use because then there is inevitably a lot oh history behind how the handles came to be that way. IMHO, that is what makes them cool. It's like leather motorcycle gloves that have faded from their black color due to the sunlight hitting them all the time. Again, very cool with a bit of history and use behind them.

Take a bit of Fiebings leather dye (I think it's shoe somethingorother. Consistency of water) at your well-stocked shoe store and paint them handles. They'll turn black in a jiffy.

The polywhateveritis in the Micarta is black. But the canvas isn't even close to it. The dye colors the canvas BLACK BLACK pretty well. It wears off at some point, but you can just repaint it.

That is if you WANT black-black handles.

Hey don't get me wrong . I LOVE them . Just the way they are , but I did notice they turned BLACK when i took my shower this morning .:foot:

Holy crud! Be careful. You might re-circumsize yourself taking your Busse into the shower with you!

Busse use #16023: Makes a great loofah for that stubborn dirt that refuses to come off with a washcloth.

Seriosly my NMSFNO hasn't left my sight since it came in the mail Mon. I gave it a little beating today . BEAUTIFUL!!!!:)

Ok, so what is the best thing to get oils etc. out of micarta?
