Hey guys

BK2 was my first and its in my car trunk full time, but it's a big beast. Great if I need to bash a window in or for emergency use, that's why I leave it in the car.

Oh by the way get a 7 or a 10, perfect camp knife. Maybe even a deal on some of these discoed BK5s would be nice!

Well just got confirmation that my 10 has shipped and will be here Tuesday. Really excited to work this thing out might even take the kids camping next weekend do a test run.

Look what showed up Saturday. Three days early well will be going out to clear the dead veggie plants outta the garden and some tree branches.

Fantastic! Glad to hear it!
Put it to use and make it earn it's keep!

Congrats again!

Thinking of making the jump to a Becker bk2 companion what are your guys thoughts of this being my first Becker purchase? Or is there another you guys would recommend as a first purchase. This will be a woods knife general camp task I'm not really in to huge choppers just little info of plans in use. Can't wait to hear pros and cons from you guys.

Thanks in advance

buy the Jessmuk :D

I think you've made a sensible choice. I have a two and, although I don't use it much, it is a nice feeling to know that it can be called on if needed. I haven't always been into 'chopper' knives either... but I have now experienced the BK9 and I would not like to be without one.

Good choice on the BK10, though I was late to the thread and didn;t have a chance to share my thoughts prior to your purchase - which was a very good one BTW.

You are now hooked!

You will need bigger (BK9) and smaller (BK15, 16, 17) and a necker as well. They're really are like lay's Potato Chips in that you can have just one!

Pretty soon you have them all and then you'll need back-ups and, if there are rumors of a model being discontinued, you'll need back-ups for the back-ups. Users and Keepers, Safe Queens, limited editions and then ... you'll start modding and pimping. Oh, and then there's sheaths - when will it end?

Some started with a BK2 or, like you, a BK10 then, before you even know what happened, you're heavily invested in 1095 CroVan and Grivory - not the futures or contracts, but the actual commodities! You're house is in foreclosure, your kid(s) thrown out of college 'cause you didn't send the check, car will be repo'd and you're getting nasty-grams from paypal 'cause your account is shut down, along with the CC that was behind it. How do you think all of the photos of Becker knives in the wild camping, hiking and in survival situations come about?

For sure I will be, great group here and I love the knives. Thanks for stopping by to welcome me I will be buying more that's for sure once work picks up alittle more i want a Bk11 and bk14 for sure.

I think it will be a bit harder for me to etch your logos now, but I can manage with some nail polish as a resist, so you will be fine.

Lol, looks good so far. Do you have anything else planned?

I would Love to see a straight clip that follows the bottom swedge line, from the tip straight to the spine with a new small swedge added and a penetrator tip.

Oh shoot I didn't know it was harder to etch with the coating off. Also there will be a pm to you in a bit after dinner.

How do you get the logos through the nail polish?
Paint over it then scratch them out?

Apply nail polish and when still wet, remove the material from within the stamping with a toothpick. Allow to dry while using as many fresh toothpicks as needed to ensure the stamping is empty otherwise you won't achieve a full etch.

Please keep in mind that you will need to coat a larger area around the stamp so as to not etch the flats from and stray water carrying current.

My first (& only) Becker is a 2. I bought it because I was enamored with my Nephews ESEE 5. Its nearly the identical knife with the Becker having the much more comfortable handle. As others have stated, its a brute of a knife. Functional if your into heavy duty, it also is a capable camp kitchen knife. I've sliced tomatoes paper thin with it. It dices and slices very well. Here it with a custom sheath I bought off fleabay. I disliked the OEM sheath which is very long and cumbersome.
