The thread implies a blackwashed 0550 will be announced or released sometime soon, and we already knew that a blackwashed 0560 is coming out soon. We also find out that the 0550 is not discontinued, but it is on a short list of knives up for review to determine if it will be discontinued or not. Hopefully that meeting keeps getting postponed

It sure seems like a bad move to cut a knife as great as the 0550 with out trying to pump up sales with some new blade steel or composite. The street price is getting very low on these, like 40% off MSRP making it kind of hard for MAP dealers to get any sales.

Lets just let KAI do what he is supposed to and tell us what we need to know, when we need to know it. The thread was just my inane jabber dreaming up dreamy 0550's for the masses. Speculation and questions on our end just further complicate the matter.

They're great.

I doubled on all of them: 0550 (Gen 1 & Gen 2), 0551 and 0550BLK. The only one I don't have is the 0550 Elmax "mistake" with only 113 made.

For me the smoothest one is the 0550BLK and the coolest one is the 0550BLK with Hinderer CF scales.

This sucks! I really recently found the 550. I love the 550. I hope it isn't breathing it's last breaths. Bronzed, in D2, or even better yet......3V. And a brown G10 scale.

I'm much more likely to get another 550 than any 560 coming down the pike, including a 560BW. I have a 560, I use it on occasion, but I have to say I have just never really warmed up to it. I'm looking forward to the 0566 nevertheless, probably because it is more the size of the 550, but has AO. But of the Hinderer designs, the 550 is the best, by a long shot, when it comes to pure design. If it had had the KVT, it would have been a worldbeater.
