hey, new guy has question about fixed blades!

Spyderco Aqua Salt these can be found for 75$ right now.

Izula is great too if that looks too big for you.

Another one I've been looking at but don't own is the Landi PSK.

I suggest Ka Bars TDI medium size one with 3' blade, CRKT's N.E.C.K, they all fit in the poket well, I can't say anything about the becker necker since it's on the way ordered! But the necker will be in my pocket also.

i understand how the low price and cord-wrapped tacticool appeal of the izula makes it extremely popular to many; but i gotta suggest a more conventionally handled "3-finger" fixed blade, the Bark River "Little Creek"...available in many handle color/styles...you don't find many up for sale/trade cause most who buy one keep it...

Izula...looks so not tacticool. I have not heard anyone call it tactical that has used it or seen me use it. It's more like a midget camping/survival knife.

From a legal standpoint, be very careful and check and double-check your local laws.

In CA, for example, you can carry any sized folding knife, so long as it is not concealed while opened. You can also carry any size fixed blade knife, so long as it is not concealed.

I believe that carrying a fixed-blade concealed in CA is a FELONY, so again, check your local laws!!!

??? Huh? I've read and reread that statement several times, and it's still not clear.

You mean something like, if I open my knife it has to be visible? I can't, for example, open my ZT 0350 and then put it in my pocket still open so as to not scare sheeple? If so, that's sort of dumb. Just open your folding knife when you intend to use it, and then put it back.

Correct. My understanding of the law here in CA is that you can not open up your folding knife and then stick it in your pocket (or a sheath) and conceal it upon your person.

That is not legal.

If your folder is closed (as they should be when you're carrying them!) then you can carry away and have fun, no matter how big the folder is.

For example, I think the MOD CQD MkI comes with a sheath that allows you to carry the knife while it is locked open - if you were to carry the knife in that manner, CONCEALED, then it is not legal in CA, just as it is not legal to conceal carry a fixed blade.

What's wrong with cord wraps and four finger grips? I have knives in micarta and G10 too and I find my Izula very comfy with solid performing steel. Plus it introduced me to cord wrapping handles, which I find fun, besides paying for the 550 cord :D

Just to solidify what everyone else has said RC-3, RC-4 or IZULA and you will not regret it. Whichever one you get they are amazing knives that are almost impossible to destroy.

Cord wraps really suck IF you are a hunter, soak it with blood and guts and you will see why. I want washable scales on my knives.;)

The OP said "under 7". The RC-3 is 8 1/4". RC-4 is 9".

Great knives for sure. I felt my RC-4 was the perfect size.

For his size limits though the Izula is great. Looking forward to a full handled version.

thx guys. seems like ima order a rat izula. anyone know a store in MA that sales them

Not e-tailer wise, but I know the-knife-connection.com is in Massachusetts. At 46.52 and with free shipping, you can't beat them. Plus they're not that far away geographically, so you should have your knife soon...probably before the week is over if you order tonight or early tomorrow morning. They'll ship the same day if you order early enough.

Also, you might as well preorder the Micarta scales too while you're at it. For 15 bucks, that's about the cost of a 100 foot spool of paracord.

check out the offerings from Fallkniven.

an S1, WM1 or F1 might suit your purposes.

otherwise, i rekon those Izulas are kinda sexy.
