Hey Peter La_Blade Coating Removed

While watching the Broncos play Jacksonville this morning (Go Donkeys!), I attempted to do this same thing with my NO-e.
Documented forthwith:

Tools prepped for use:

Initial application of the stripper.
Note that it didn't bubble anything like what was shown on the Ratweiler at the start of this thread:

First attempt at stripping the coating. Check out the "Busse Skins" in the upper left corner.
I used a razor blade/box cutter to scrape off the crinkle and it lifted off slick as a whistle:

I used some medium grit emery cloth wrapped around a wood block and cardboard backing to put an initial polish on the blade.
It was very diffiuclt to get the areas around the front and rear talon holes cleaned up.
I think I will find someone with a blasting cabinet and put on a bead blast finish after completing the stripping process.

Wow, she cleaned up nicely! Strange how the coating came off in one piece.
Didn't the SH-e came with a smooth black finish rather than a crinkle finish? Maybe that has something to do with it. Nice blow by blow pictures.

Can't wait to see what a DC finish will look like on her. Are you going to blast the spine or tape it off. Might be nice to see how it would look with a DC finish and the polished spines. You can always blast the spine afterwards but it would be difficult to go backwards and re-polish the spine.

Thanks for the post. Really like the looks of that model. Thick and rugged, a very functional looking knife. Guess that's where the beauty of it lies.

Stay Strong & No Regrets!

Heh, heh, heh. I was lazy and grabbed a used brush (it had been used to apply some walnut stain to new baseboards for my dining room). The JASCO immediately stripped it from the bristles. I didn't worry about it.

JASCO itself looks like loogies. Seriously, it is some sort of pearlescent fluid similar to marmalade in consistency.
