Roefisher you show off!! Na, na...na, na...... booboo. :p :p :p

Look what I just scored from Dan at Plaza Cutlery. It should be in the mail in a few days. Therefore Sir, you can no longer torment me with your cruel postings. :D ;) :D ;)

Well done trane fan....

She's a beautiful one, too....showing a fantastic grain!!

I must score you off my casual torment list, sir

What's next, now ? (and don't tell me you haven't thought about it)

They have a great Camel Thorn example !! :D :D

Yep, that's a beauty, too.

I'm still looking at the grain on that Box Elder Mnandi WOW

You could have one of the best ones around you lucky devil

Now, I'm green with envy :p :p :p

Mark

They've also got a Box Elder Mnandi with a "special" blue CRK pin, which looks really classy. However, the wood itself is sort of bland. I figured I could always send this one to the good folks at CRK and get a blue pin if I choose. ;)

Good shout, the richer timber is always the way to go, the metal can be altered anytime.

I have another discovery - Lacewood. Not very popular :( but I think it's the bee's knees. I scored one in a small classic Sebenza. In the hand, boy is she sweeeet. A very striking colour pattern.

What about Camel Thorn, well, here's a couple of snaps of the very same ;

If this deal works out for you trane fan, my envyometer will blow clean off the charts. Good Luck with it :D :D

Nice coloring on yours, Trane. Bout time you got an Elder Wood!
As the old saying goes, "Better late than never". Besides it's no fun to get everything at once. To me the essence of collecting is doing it in a well thought out manner over a protracted period of time. ;)

I think I'm heading over there tomorrow to pick that one up. Quite a nice knife.

I'd still rather have one with all titanium handles though ;)

OOOOH, Pretty!

trane fan,

What's your opinion on the idea of Desert Ironwood here?

I'm now thinking specifically on the smaller pieces - Mnandi or a small Sebenza. I am tring to pick out next month's wood and see a couple of buying options. That's right, my better half has cruely hammered me into financial submission :grumpy:

Now for the worlds worst wood descriptions :footinmou :D :footinmou

I have not handled DI, yet. Would you say that the finish on it is shiney and hard on as if it were nearly varnished for example or would it be a more rawer and open grained style, like Box Elder ??

Of course this is an open question to anyone with DI

Cheers

Mark :)

Nice, very nice! I don't have any wood-inlayed Mnandi that could even be put next to this one on the table... wow.

Uh....sure it is... ;) :) :p :D

That's a great example of Box Elder you have on the way. I've been extremely happy with and proud of my Box Elder example, but yours is the first time I've experienced Box Elder envy!

Congratulations,

Matthew

Box Elder? Is that some old guy in a coffin?

Yuk yuk

TraneFan - now you are going to torcher me over this great knife. Both of you guys - stop it now!

Mark I've never seen DI in person either on a Mnandi or Sebbie. So any answer I give would be pure speculation. I'm sure some other members have the personal experience that you seek. ;)

It's very nice but I could not bring myself to choose and pass up the one I picked. If you get it post some pics when it arrives and let us know what you think. ;)

The camel thorn is an interesting looking inlay, too.
Yes it is Nathan. But you and everyone else better stay away from it. I've lusted after it for a couple of months and it one day it shall be mine. :p :D ;)
