Hey Sal, ever thought of using Digi-Camo for a sprint run Military?

Perhaps a desert edition for our people fighting overseas especially since it is a solid "USA" made knife to boot.

This just popped in my head as I was typing in different colors for G-10 to use instead of black. Perhaps a tan G-10 with the digi-camo print on the handle and have a coated blade. Seems that it would compliment itself quite nicely. I wasn't sure if this was thought of yet (if it hasn't already been made).

If any of you guys reading this like the sound of it feel free to show your support .

I look forward to hearing a response from you guys at spyderco.

Digi camo Para Milli would be a nice one to have :)

Not my cup of tea, but, AFAIK, it's in the works. Saw a prototype at BLADE. :D

Paul is correct, it's already in the works...

You know what they say about great minds?

Kristi

Wow!!! Can I get a complimentary one for having a good idea??? :D

I can't wait to see those, thanks for chimming in tazkristi.

Just like stag or figured wood, the "pattern" in digital camo is random, so no two handles will look exactly alike. In fact, from what Kristi and Sal said at Blade, they will range from fairly light to fairly dark, due to the relative distribution of the colors. There is no way to guarantee where in the spectrum a given handle will fall. That's because, if memory serves me correctly, Spydero receives this material in 4' X 8' sheets (although I could be wrong on the exact size), and even the pattern of full sheets will not be identical. The best they can do is try to keep the two sides of any given knife fairly consistend in overall hue. That randomness will be seen by some as a good thing, and give others cause to whine "his looks nicer than mine".

I have a S90V Millie and love it. I would LOVE to see:

1. A ZDP-189 (ATS-34 sandwiched) bladed, carbon fiber millie

2. A millie trainer.

3. A s90V, carbon fiber para.

Would ZDP-189 sandwiched between S30V defeat the purpose???

2. A millie trainer.
That would be sweet, and I bet a few people would be able to benefit from it.

Yep. The idea with lamination is to have two steels with complimentary properties. Like a very hard steel between two layers of tougher, more durable steel. S30V doesn't make much sense in that application.

To me it would.

First off, I doubt you'll see a US made steel (S30V) featured in a Japanese made (ZDP-189), laminated blade.

Secondly, I happen to think that AUS-6 would make the perfect "bread" for a ZDP-189 "sandwich," and I wouldn't want a harder steel (ATS-34, VG-10) than AUS-8 for the sides of a laminated blade. I don't want a hard, brittle steel on the sides as it defeats the purpose of having a hard, more brittle, center steel.

anyone do custom linen micarta scales for Spydie knives??
Might want to check with STR - this is a link to his sub-forum here. He did a Stretch in canvas micarta for me, can't see why he would not do linen or paper.
