jsut got one today 86 pounds of cast and motor
was on sale for $99
table could be stronger but it seems good so far just a heads up for you all
and super grit have disc in all kinds of grit for them

I actulally prefer 9" discs because then you can use normal 9x11 sheets and trim them, and you can get the 9x11s in litererally /any/ grit / type. So far iv'e been very unimpressed with HF stuff iv'e used. That being said i'll still proably pick up their metal cutting bandsaw when the HF opens in RI at the end of the month.

Dude it was just on sale for $159 The sale ended today. I bought one saturday. I had a 10% off coupon and I added the 2 year warranty and bought some high speed cutoff wheels it came to $192 after sales tax. When you buy it Have a friend help you unload the car the saw weighs 140 lbs.

the plan is use 36 and 60 grits to flaten blocks and bevel bolsters to shape and then clean them up by hand

i just dont see a need to ahve 36-800 or more in grit are you useing the disc as a main grinder or finishe grinder
i would nt want to change paper every 30 min of use
guess im jsut not thinking about this the same way please do tell
might jsut be were workign to the same point in different ways

The big problem with those 12" HF units is the shaft is not very large or very strong. It will bend if you get something wedged in the table, so don't try to flat grind blades on it. Once bent, you will never get it straight again.
