HF digital pyrometer

Thanks for the heads up Stacy. I grabbed one of these yesterday (the last one they had) just to check out. The probe that comes with it is pure crap for our purposes (or anything other than measuring the temp of air I'd guess), but the unit overall seems to be of better physical quality than I has expected.

It measures in Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin and the display goes to 1999, so if you don't mind converting from Celsuis it'll handle most temps your forge sees in use. I haven't really had a chance to run it against my more expensive pyrometer since I don't have a decent probe for it yet.

Any suggestions for a source for a decent, inexpensive, k-type probe with the proper connector for this little widget? My other probe won't fit it.

Check these guys out. I've purchased from them and like the quality. The prices are good too. http://www.omega.com/

Go to the upper right corner to the conigutor and select what you want. Shawn

Ebay has several sellers that sell them, often in quantity, at very affordable prices.

omega gets my vote. That's where I got my TC and 2 years later, it is still going strong. Make sure to get the right TC, the configurator they have might get confusing at times. $10 more compared to average Ebay kill, but you will know you're getting just what the doctor ordered :)
