first of all, i really like this knife. great blade shape and feels wonderful in the hand. i agree it would make a fine hunter.

however, the scalloping on the spine is very aggressive. way moreso than the mil overrun i have, perhaps the result of the coating.

they are aggressive to the point of being sharp. i wouln't be surprised if they acted like serrations.

a little use and my hand would be pretty torn up methinks.

are they all like this?

Ken, yours looks more rounded off whereas Marks looks like they come to a point.

yeah. there are a couple on the left side of the spine nearest the tang that are quite pointy.

and it looks like there is less spine between the scallops than on ken's.

guess i use a buffing wheel to round them a bit.

also, this is my first knife with the meltdown treatment.

very cool!!! would have been nice if the scallops were meltdowned too.

I had one question to people who got both Mil. overrun and LE.
Do you seen any benefit of one against each other? I am kind of thinking if I should get an LE but not for the looks I like 'em as users.
Thank you.

i think i ordered the mil overrun before i knew they were going to be a regular offering.

had i known, i probably would have just ordered the le. i prefer uncoated blades and am not a big fan of the cbt's, but fell in love with the overall design.

my le will be a user, but then again i rarely intentionally keep safe queens.

ive always found uncoated blades to be better overall cutters.

MORIMOTOM thanks a lot for reply.
So if I get it right you would choose LE agains Mil. overrun.
:D

I was so excited about this blade style...untill i saw the thumb grooves.

I pass'ed because they looked way to sharp for me. It looks like the new SAR4 will have the same:(

It wouldn't look good, but you could fill them in with some type of epoxy(edit-but I have no idea if that would really work)

Always a bright side though...I'll have money for Blade:thumbup:

The convex grind on the LE will make it a better slicer/chopper (I know it is not meant to be a chopper).

Convex with satin infi = better cutting performance.

i would, yes.

some prefer the coated blades, and the desert camo certainly does look good.

id also love to see a double cut version. dc w/ blk g10 would look fantastic!!!

unfortunately it seems like gloves need to be worn with certain knives if used for extended periods of time.

i dont have this knife so i cant comment but its something i wondered about from day one and after your close up pic now i really wonder.

Mark,

You apparently received the special "who needs thumb skin?" model.

Nothing sends a clearer message that someone has messed with the wrong guy more than a bloody stump where your thumb used to be!!!!. . .

If it turns out that you actually like the skin on your thumb, then please return it and give us the opportunity to make it to your liking.

I raise my bloody thumb stump to you and yours  . . . (scary huh?)

Let's Drink!!!! :D
