Can anyone explain to me what the CBT (Corrugated Bevel Technology) is and its purpose? This one is in my price range, but I just want to make sure I know what I'd be getting.

This is really hard to explain because I don't get it myself, but I have certainly tried. I think they exist to make the knife look cool. I don't know if anyone has done a test to see if they actually help the knife cut better, but hopefully someone will buy a CG model and a LE model, strip the CG model, and do a cutting test to see which is better.

You already know which one will be easier to sharpen and maintain...

The CBT Corrugated Bevel Technology adds strength while reducing overall weight to the knife. It is an engineering thing. Look around you and you will notice it employed in everyday applications. For example, in vehicle construction, Why do cars come with that "crease" in the fender/trunk/tailgate? The added dimention adds strength at key points without adding thickness (ergo; weight), too keep it simple.

For tactical applications, why does the venerable K-Bar have the Blood Groove? For ease of extraction.
