HHFSH/ Some stripper questions:

Thanks AntDog.

Gonna try and resist stripping this right away. I do have some work for it.

Just prepped this guy for surgery, at my dads place,.. too close to the weeping cherry ,.. gotsta go.. wont make much of a meal for the HH tho'...snack maybe..

Congrats on the HH!!!!
How do you like it compared to the NMFSH?

And... What are you all using to ETCH the logo?

.

Thanks, Foo

Compared to the NMFSH? Ill tell you what...if anything, its made me realize how great the NMFSH is. I love and couldnt be happier about the HH, wouldnt have rested till I got one. Finishes aside, the NMFSH is just awesome, that 1.5 inch advantage w/ the .319 thickness...way capable..and the Nuclear treatment..wow, especially the spine..I just discoverd an HH variant w/ a full flat grind (I think I did)..so nice..prefer that over a high saber (the saber grind is what foolishly kept me from the CBASH..yea, I know...damn fool)..I love the ffg on the NMFSH...if I was to have the two grinds on the two knives...this is the way I like it..NMFSH/FFG, HHFSH/High Saber..I love the pair,.. feel like you could conquer the world w/ these two..(Hmm?) ..not giving either up anytime soon..(famous last words)..

Etching?...I tried mustard, but it was taking forever..:D

So, I went w/ this stuff..

Yup... You got it bad!! :D :p
Just one more... This one.... Ok... That one too.... Oh, there's that one, need it too... And... :p :p

I convinced myself in didn't need the NMFSH... And I really don't... But... I do want one! :o
And I really like the meltdown treatment too, because it makes them much more comfortable in use.

Does the etching actually help the logo be more pronounced after stripping? Seems like that it wouldn't have much effect, if any, on steel.

I think it helps an amazing amount.... I've not etched and then etched and I won't hesitate to do every knife I strip, unless I wish it to be a sterile blade

Yea,..I got it bad alright. Keep finding "must haves"...I didnt think I needed or wanted a BM...thought the NMFSH was as big as I wanted to go..Wrong..Gotta have a corrugated BM now...That Bronze Corrugated BM that just went through the exchange was hard to lay off..good thing they dont hang around that long..

I expect the etching to have effect. I did some research in the archives, saw some great examples...Hoping mine came out decent, tough to see how clean or deep it is until I strip it...Gonna take the advice on beating the coating off first..I am dying to strip it tho'..
