Hi all,

We had our first snow day today. The weather man said last night 3" to 6" of snow was going to fall and he was right on the money. we had around 6" or so.

Well I decided to go down to my camping spot in the timeber. Just yesterday I set up a couple of tarps in kind of a A frame type of look.

So this morning I head down and start a fire under my canvas tarps and have some coco and hotdogs. while it was snowing all around me.
It was awesome. Well here are some pics.

First off I got my fire going.

Then I went out from under my shelter and took this pic of the out side and then my camp site area with my fire in the back ground.

No going to the Creek to get water this morning. I packed some snow into my Snow peak Solo pot.

Then I put that near my fire and in no time it started to melt and then I just added more snow.

I put my foam mat down. to sit / lay on lol. While the snow was melting in my pot I started roasting my hot dogs and took this pic.

Well after I had some hot coco and a few hotdogs I decided it was time to replentish my wood supply so I went out into that lovly falling snow and with my handy dandy hand saw. I cut some dead mullberry branches and then sawed them up back at camp while sitting my camp chair I made a couple of months back. This was a really wet snow that we got, every branch, was good and wet on the out side so I decided to let my fire help to dry them out. I put my sawed off rounds up on one end and then leaned them around the out side of my fire but on the inside of the ring of rocks that I have around my fire.
In the back ground you can see my wooden chair.

Well between puttering around the fire and having cups of hot coco and then going back out and cutting more branches to dry by the fire and then using them to keep the fire going I was having the time of life so to speak.

Today was a great day. Hope you all had a great day too.

I'm jealous. Looks like a fun day. It's always cool to get out in weather that keeps most others indoors and make the most out of it. I was hoping it'd rain here today for that reason, but it never did.

looks great!

but you had the fire going under your tarp? does that work out ok? seems like you'd either melt your tarp or damage it or somethin?

ive never done it so i have no idea! thats why im asking....

Color me green. Looks a great way to spend a day.

I'm looking forward to doing something like this when/if we get snow here this winter.

Nice. We got the shaft up here, barely saw a flake of the stuff. I was hoping for some snow today, I'm ready to play in it.

That chair is pretty cool, need to make one myself sometime.

Hi all,

Thanks for the kind comments.

Willaim M. the temp when I headed out was 32 degrees and I think it warmed up to 40 roughly. I was out for about 6 hours. I headed out at about 9:30 am or so and then left my campsite about 3:30 pm or so.

Iboschi sorry to hear you are sick. YUCK lol.

Heavy J, It works great to have a fire under my tarp. Just keep you fire small to med. NO bon fires lol. You can really keep a pretty good fire going.

I am using canvas tarps that are tie off to a pole that I have between a tree and then another part of that same tree. The top of the Tree is bent over.
The top of the pole is about 6 feet off the ground. I can stand up and walk around my fire pit and then sit in my wooden chair or go over and sit / lay down on my foam mat that I have spread out near the fire across from my fire. Try it out some time.

Thanks again for all the kind comments on my first snow day lol

Rocketbomb, Yea you guys did get the shaft. The news out of Lincoln just said we go around 11" today so far. Come down here when you get a chance.

I to am a little curious about the fire under the tarp. I have used those canvas tarps a lot and am suprised. Maybe you have the ventelation rigged right for your spot? Have another ring for raging fires? Regardless the chair is sweet! Looks like a good day.
Cheers,
Patrick

I see you adressed my questions while I was typing. It is great to have a spot for a fire, the snow is a pretty bonus.

Great stuff Bryan, those pics have made me quite cold now though gonna have to throw another log on my fire !!!

Ps. Ya do know that any makers have to post at least one pic of their knives in any posts they do !!!!!
