Hi guys,

New to the Forum. Spent the last couple weeks enjoying reading the posts and topics on here ( Becker blades in particular) So I've finally joined.

I like my knives... Well, I like gear In general, tools, guns, etc. I don't have too many knives and no Beckers yet...

My current knives:
- benchmade saddle mountain skinner S30v
- Kizlyar tanto
- custom skinner
- countless leathermans multi tools and folder
- a couple gerber folders
- a buck folder

Been looking around for a camping/utility blade, something not too large but useful.
Stumbled across the Becker BK11 recently and I think that it or perhaps the BK 14/24 will be my next acquisition. They appear to be of very good quality and a practicle design.

I have lately found interest in the rest of the Becker range.

It has been quite enjoyable reading topics on here and I have found it quite educational aswell.

Anyway thank you for reading.

You can't go wrong with any of them. I started out with an 11. Now I have 5 Beckers including the 24 as well. Great designs. You won't be disappointed.

welcome to the forum and BK&T. :) The 11 or 14/24 are great knives. Extremely comfortable and useful. I am a bit partial to my 11 but like previously mentioned, you can't go wrong with either. They do become quite addictive though. My first was the BK2 and at the time i said thats all i want and need. Here we are about 15 blades later.... enjoy!

Welcome to the forum, glad that you like the BK&T, hoping u can get yourself one of them.

Welcome OzCamper

I can heartily recommend the BK9 if you need a knife that can chop well. Crocodile Dundee would have been a better movie if he'd had a '9

Best wishes from across the water... Coote.

G'day guys..

Thank you for the warm welcome. It's nice to be in good company.

Yes I will definitely be happy with either one... I've just got to decide what I want from the knife.. Decisions...

Maybe a custom sheath and self made scales.. Hmmm.

Hey Tman,

Yeah I really like the Bk2. It's next in line I reckon, after the Bk11-14/24... I know the neckers will get much more carry that's all.

Hola!
Beekaynutcase and Gassy are from ur neck of the woods but have gone awol as of late.
Welcome! Grab itself a Becker, beat the snot out of it, then report back!
You won't be disappointed with any of the neckers. I pocket carry one of the three daily.

Thanks NCSlice... Yeah that's what I plan to do.

Hey guys, what are your thought on the D2 Bk24 vs Bk14 1095 ?
What concerns me is that either one maybe the only blade on me, on an outing and it may need to multi task. E.g. Mild batoning, prep food, skin and such.
Will the 1095 coating be a problem for food prep?
Will the D2 be a problem when used for batoning?
Kinda novice of me, but I've over complicated things inside my head ... 😜

Just start with a BK2 grab a sheath with a BK11 Piggy carry
When you Ready tie the Bundle to a BK9 that would suit most everyone
Welcome to a Great Bunch of Guys and Gals and our Man of Steel(Mr Becker) hence Berkeritiz (incurrable Disease)

I'd say grab a 24 while you can as they've been discontinued. D2 is a great steel but the small blade wouldn't be ideal for batoning I'd think. Unless it's small stuff like cross batoning through a limb or stick for crafting traps or walking sticks etc. just to get a cleaner cut.
The bigger blades are better for fire prep. 2,4,5,7,9,20,21. Some stand out more than others for particular tasks.

From your description above I'd suggest a BK15 if you can find one, otherwise the 16 or 17 are perfect hip knives. The 16 is amongst the most popular for good reason. Great all arounder with enough size to getter done but small enough to not be cumbersome

Always happy to see a new member. Welcome. I would strongly suggest a bk7 or bk9 for the tasks that you mentioned, I'm sure people will disagree with me, but just my cheap .02¢. I find that I use my 9 more than anything else, and always have a multitool or a sharp folder on me for smaller stuff. Bottom line is, you can't go wrong with anything in the Becker lineup. You're going to end up buying a 9 eventually, you can't not have a 9. Might as well accept that fact and give in. It's my favorite edged instrument of all time.

I'm with Beckerbrain. Looking at the list of knives you already have, it seems like you have plenty of blades for smaller tasks. So I'm thinking a BK9 would be an excellent first choice for your Becker collection. Plus the factory sheath on the '9 has a small pouch in which you could carry a smaller Becker or one of your multi-tools.

But that's just my current opinion. I started with a BK2. I should have started with a '9.

Are there stores in your area where you can actually handle Beckers? You may really enjoy the experience of handling a '9 and feeling the accompanying surge of confidence and invincibility.

Hey guys, I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Finished work and since then, helped the other half with shopping/kiddy (3, all under 6) minding and yeah...

Any ways.. I've had a good look at all of your recommendations. I do really like the look of the 16 and the 9 looks really practical.

I'm leaning towards the 24 at the moment. Just deciding on whether or not to get the Orange /black combo scales or not.
Regardless , I don't think it will be my last Becker..
I also like Nuto's comment on piggy backing it with a more robust sibling. Sounds a treat.

The 11-14-24 are all good. The 1095 should take a better edge with less effort. The D2 will hold it's edge longer.
Check out the photo threads for some handle - sheath ideas.
Almost forgot Welcome :)

Welcome OzCamper, there is a great bunch of folk here to help you, as you can see.

My last Becker acquisition was a BK11 and I also have a 24. I must say I do favor the 11 a bit and it does help in opening a cold one too.

You can't go wrong with whatever you choose in the Becker line and I am sure you will end up with more than 1.

Let us know what you end up with and your thoughts on it (remember pics or it didn't happen) ;)

Howdy! And Welcome!

As already noted, the BK11/14/24 will fit a necker requirement nicely, with no 'wrong' choice. But, batoning with a 3.25" blade will be problematic.

I went with the BK24 mostly for the uniqueness of having an uncoated blade in D2.

All 3 have the same 3.25" blade profile.
The 11 has a different handle.
The 14 and 24 have the same handle.
The 11 and 14 are coated 1095.
The 24 is uncoated D2.

Definitely get the optional handles.

I find the BK2 too heavy for general camp tasks, certainly food prep.

The BK16 would be a much better choice for a camping/utility knife.

A 24+16+9 would make an excellent do-it-all combo.
