Hi all.... From Sydney, Australia

Thank you all for making me feel welcome. I will be placing an order this morning for the Bk24 . Should have it early next week. There really isn't a local store where I can handle the Beckers unfortunately.

It seems that the Izula scales can be made to fit. Will have to get them shipped over from the States I think..

The pics will be coming once received. 😃

Welcome to Beckerland!!

Pull up a stump, sit around the campfire, grab a brew, and have some fun. Good group of people here and a lot of knowledge.

Hey NixKustoms, the guys have been really helpful and welcoming. Thank you you also.

Man... Fingers crossed. Paid for. I'm hoping the Bk24 was instock. After the the online purchase from interstate, the same website claimed that they were all sold out. Got the last one I hope. The first guy told me he had one then all of a sudden he didn't. Go figure

I'll follow up with a call to the store in the morning. And then hunt down some g10 TKC scales I think..

Welcome to the madness, and since noone said it, I will.....

You can`t not have a 9!!!!

Thanks Gonebad.. All the guys seem very helpful and nice..

Hey Bobber, the 9's a bit of a crowd favorite ay?

Honestly all the Beckers look very practical, blade shape, size, thickness and even the handles. I must have been living under a rock to not notice them earlier..

You guys got any ideas on fixing the Bk24 to waist belt horizontally?
The Tek Lok would work but the sheathe will need new fixing points drilled.. I guess it ain't a big deal..

Hey Kentwood, the 9 looks like a great bit of gear. What camp/bush tasks would you use it most for? I mean what reason would the average camper/outdoorsman buy it for? ... Other than it looks freakn bad ass...

Just been checking out the "show us your Beckers" thread. Wow you guys are dedicated and faithful... I like that..

Some awesome collections by some of the guys in this particular thread. Even checked out NixKustoms craftsmanship. Just beautiful. I'm really impressed.

Hello oz, like u said is a badass looking blade, but not only that, personally is the perfect camping companion, one of the best choppers of the beckers lineup, there is always a task for mine, since there are lots of trees on my backyard.

Thanks Kentwood for the explanation. The 9's are definitely robust looking.

I wish there was a local place to get Becker blades from and have a good feel.. Online will have to do I guess. 😔

I might suggest a 7 or 10 to start with. Both great knives and great starter Beckers. I honestly think you'd be happy with any but those two are good gateway Beckers.

Welcome to the forum. This place is like your favorite local pub. Not fancy, not plush, just good people you'd like to sit down with and talk about stuff over a cold beer. I'm glad you decided join in with your 24. It won't be your last. I'm going to go against the fold a little here and recommend you get a 16. I have a 9 (you have to have a 9) but to be honest I use my 4 more often. I have a 7 and a 2. They just sit sadly out in my shed hoping someday my kids will grow up and want to use one. My 5 rides in my kitchen knife block and sees frequent use for food prep. Someone borrowed my 10 months ago. I have an 11 and a couple of 14's stashed in various bags, but my 16 goes places. When we hike or camp my 16 is usually hanging on my belt. It's a great knife. It's kinda like this forum. Not fancy, not plush. More like an old friend. It's a great knife to get and use while you think about what other knife you might want to get.

Good luck on your journey through Beckerland!

Hi Creaky Bones,

Thank you for the friendly welcome.. I'm enjoying chatting with the guys. I can see that you all have talk through experience and I'm more than happy to listen.. 😃

All of the suggestions so far have been valid for my first, because it sure won't be my last. The main reason for this current purchase was to find a:
- capable tool that could be easily concealed to not bother others... Should those others find offence.
- something with a non coated blade,
- fixed blade with a minimal handle,
And a blade shape different to what I already had.

Without even holding it, I can tell that this blade will be all those things. The next purchase, will be be something the size of the Bk2-16. Those two models look the most useful as multi tasking blades. To me that is.

But for now, I'm counting down the days until the 24 comes in the post. Like a kid at Christmas hey.....

Wow NCSlice! Great idea .... Nice color combo too. Now to get some leather and decent looking fasteners and copy your great idea..

Still waiting for the bk24. Aus post tracking says its local, so hoping the postman can get it to me tomorrow.. Fingers crossed..

I have both. The 16 is perfect for a multi-use belt knife. It is thin enough to be a good slicer, but sturdy enough to do some reasonable hard work. One of my favorite knives ever.

The 2 is much newer to me. I didn't think I would be a fan, due to the thickness of the blade and grind. It has turned out to be better at the fine work than I anticipated, but it's true calling is the heavy work: prying, batoning, filleting a tractor...

They are very different knives. Just looking at the blade profiles and lengths, they seem like they might be similar, but they are not at all.

Hey coolbreeze, Thanks for the heads up. I kinda thought that already, but you're right, I wasn't comparing apples with apples.

Iam pleased to say that my Bk24 has arrived today. I have bought a large Tek Lok and made it work. Used the cord on the handle as a temporary grip until I man up and give shaping some G10 scales a go. For now, good enough though.

Also bought a new head torch and a bunch of different post/binding oxide screws, the type guys use on kydex sheaths. Thought they might have been useful with the sheath mods.

Anyway need to get some pics up. I think the 24 will be my favorite blade. Unbelievably sharp out of the box. 😃

Hey guys, been a while. Hope all are well. Been away for a while, finally got a chance to put up some pics for those who are interested.

Had a pleasant camping experience with the family and the 24 was most useful. Unbelievably sharp out of the box.
