HI Bearded Ax???

I have an idea.....

If you used a readily available shaft. like a cold steel one. Could have the head fitted to the shaft, ship just the heads over, and "assemble" them here.

Since an axe just slides on, drop it, it's own weight sets it. May be good or bad.

I do want one though....
 
Well, the haft in the picture is more of a tomahawk type than a felling axe type, and it's been the type of haft on "working" axes long before the more curved shape we're used to came along.

To be honest, this is one piece I wouldn't want "Americanized", although I wouldn't mine the haft be lengthened to 40" or so to be used as a walking axe.

This isn't a product I plan on buying, so what the piece ends up looking like isn't a huge concern of mine. I do think that the more functional it is the more likely it will be a successful product for HI.
 
I like the tapered slip fit like a tomahawk or Maddox. Never had any problem with that set up if fit right.
