Sitting here in Kuwait "awaiting transport" for our vehicles and equipment (you guys and gals with military experience know what that's all about). Ran into a snake eater today that I knew over in Afghanistan, had a huge grin on his face when he saw me, said, " I thought last go around was your last go around, but seeing you here don't surprise me one little bit". He's a good guy, did some serious shootin' and scootin' way up north of here and that's all I'll say about that.

Dadgum at all those "Crazy Pala Deals", I don't get on a computer much and don't even have a mailing address over here, but I'm practically foaming at the mouth with HIKV. No worries, there's two sharp shiny scramaseaxes waiting for me somewhere down the road.

Fartsack time, gotta get some z's, volunteered myself for perimeter patrol starting at 0500. Hey, why should I let the kids have all the fun out there soaking up the rays?

Hope all is well with everybody, I'll post again next chance I get.

Sarge

Good to hear from you Sarge. Take care over there. Wish I was with you. Send some pics if you get the chance.

Hi Sarge--Hey, is there any way to get those snake-eaters some khuks?? I have a couple to spare. Email info if possible. :) :)

Nice to hear from you Sarge! Glad you are doing well.

I've got this Roast Beast with your name on it.:D

Hi Sarge,
Good to hear that it sounds like you're doing okay. You and your "troops" be careful! Also sounds like "Ol' Sarge" leads buy example...just like a true NCO should, OUTSTANDING. Watch your "6" and come home soon!
Mike

all is well, Sarge. Stay safe (I say that while knowing full well you're in a country that has more guns and landmines than food)

Keith

I guess I don't have to tell another war horse to keep the powder dry and watch your backsides.

It's good to hear that you keep some steel close at hand. Take care of you and the guys. We will all be glad when you are home for good. :) :)

Sarge,

You mean you rushed into a deployment spot and then are told to sit tight we had no idea what your unit is doing here or how they’re supposed to be employed? Then somebody else comes down and is angry that you’re still XXXXXXXX not doing anything very useful? I am shocked and appalled that something like that could happen.

I may (outside chance) join you over there. Strange rumblings from our manpower folks and no real idea what is going on.

Take care of the UXOs and locals.

S/F, Mike

Dadgum sir, that's a pretty good crystal ball you've got there. Can't talk about where we were supposed to have gone and what we were supposed to have done, but what we're doing right now amounts to a lot of nothing. We're stuck here like a damned elephant in a tar pit with a tribe of angry pygmies pelting us with sling shots.:(

The 82nd Airborne guys whose camp we're squatting in are pretty tickled with us though. We keep our area squared away, and don't whine a bit when it comes time to do our share working or providing security. I hate to say it, but apparently some of our Air Force "brethren" from the non-tactical side of the house got booted out of this tactical assembly area because they weren't keeping their people squared away, and refused to pull their weight around camp. Different mindset, different culture.

Jim, on that info you needed, really iffy, but if you want to gamble here goes;

449 EASOS
Bldg. 21, Bay 179
Camp Doha, Kuwait
APO/AE 09889
c/o MSgt Sikes/712ASOS

Doha is about a 45 minute humvee drive from here. Got a supply troop there that said we could have mail sent to him and he'd hold it for us until we can come down to pick it up, since we have no reliable means of getting mail here. So far we've gotten zero mail, so I really don't think you'd want to trust something like a khuk to such a Byzantine process. Still, if you do want to risk it, I'll get word to my buddy to keep his eyes peeled.

Heber, they feed us pretty good around here, but I could still really go for some of that roast beast. Especially washed down with several cold pints of Guinness.;)

Pappy, I keep my weapons clean/handy, and my situational awareness switched on. We lost a young GFAC a few days back over in Afghanistan, he was ambushed in the vicinity of a so called "safe house". Some of the kids think I'm a bit harsh, to some maybe even a little scary, but if they all get home with a whole skin I won't really care what they think of the old sarge.

Scorpions Fed? I don't even eat lobster, they look too much like bugs.:barf:

Uncle, I still tote my Sungde 24/7 in the little leather pouch I made for it over in Afghanistan. That, my khukuri, and a good bit of common sense ought to keep me out of most troubles.:D

Best regards to all, hope to be home soon (soon is a relative term:mad: ) having a few pints down at the Dog and Duck.:)
