First post in this forum, I have no clue what to expect. I need an intro to Busse combat knives.

I used to hang out in the Kershaw forums and am looking for a new home. I carry around many Kershaw folders because I live in NYC and don't really go anywhere with anything else. I have a few production folders from other companies, and when I'm out of state (poconos) I have a Rat RC4 to use. But when I started looking for something bigger, like a machete, it seemed like Busse would have what i want.

I've read everything on the Busse Combat website, but they only list 2 knives for sale. How do I buy what you guys have? The price range seems a bit high, I'm not looking for a safe queen, I'm here to find a user. ~$300 is okay, definitely not more than $400... the less the better. I'm interested in something with roughly a foot long blade and that INFI steel (if Busse even has anything else). And what's up with the names... MNSFNOLEXYZ123 ?

So what goes on in here?

If you are looking for a foot of INFI you will be very lucky to find even a beater for 400 bucks. But be assured that if you do decide to take the plunge and buy a Battle Mistress you will never have to buy another one as long as you live.

As for the names there are a few good sites that have a lot of good info.

Good luck in your search for a foot of INFI and welcome to the greatest place on the web.

Welcome aboard. Keep an eye on the exchange, you never know what may turn up. HAPPY HUNTING

A battle mistress seems sufficient, with 10" of blade, and good looks. It says list price at < $400... can I get one from Busse for that price?

bussecollector is a really good link, a big list with pictures and spec... just what i need, Thanks!

Aha ... another Kershaw refugee (like me).:)

Busse is a semi-custom shop. He runs through designs, offering them only once through his web-site. The very cheapest way to get one of his knives is to keep eyes and ears open for a new offering (word always leaks out through this sub-forum), then order through Jerry's site. This can be slow ... it's one design at a time, and one never knows quite how long an offering will last. I've seen an offering last two weeks ... and another last 6 months.

He does re-visit old designs on a multi-year schedule, but only with interesting changes ... nothing is ever quite the same twice.

One of us, Idahoskunk, runs the Busse Company Store. He often has interesting offerings, some of which follow the original Busse runs, some of which are peculiar to the Skunk himself (I've bought a lot of good stuff there over the years). I believe he now has a new section for "special knives" ... always worth looking at. Skunk has his own, unusual ways of letting us all know what's coming there.

Then there's the secondary market, best done (in my opinion) right here at BladeForums. Keeping eyes and ears open, you will definitely find a FBM of one sort or another around your price range. I saw an outstanding CG FBM there just the other day for around $425.00 (an excellent price) and a wonderful Basic 9 (9 inches of Busse goodness) for even less.

Finally, as you get to know all the Knuts around here ... well, we constantly pester one another and thereby move the good knives around and around (INFI in ... INFI out).

It's also worthwhile to check out Swamprat and Scrapyard. These are less expensive Busse-kin knives ... there's some excellent stuff there. You literally just missed an outstanding price on a 9" Swamprat chopper (M9LE), and we're all hoping that a combat grade or cg version of the M9 will show up "soon.":D

Hang in there. We're happy to help.

That was when they were new. They are actually more now. How many knives do you know that get more expensive as time passes? There are a few BMs on the Exchange right now for around $500. Occasionally you will see a user in the low to mid $400 range. Busse only releases one knife at a time, so you can not just order one from the shop (unless you wanted to wait 2 years and pay $100 an inch). Be patient and keep an eye on the Exchange for any deals.

Hope this helps.

Run! RUN QUICK!!! DON'T LOOK BACK!!!!

Still here?? Oh, man... You've just stepped into the biggest addiction one can ever have!! As dobywon said, "You'll never have to buy another one for as long as you live"... But you will want to! And more than just a few!!!

Let's put it another way... I've just been approved to receive 10% of the Federal bailout package just for relieving the debt I incurred by buying Busse knives!! ...Of course, they own me now. :foot:

But seriously... These knives are super tough, easy to maintain, and fun to use. Yes, they cost more, but between their nuclear toughness, and and the excellent Busse warranty, you can beat them to no end and feel confident that they can take it. And, should they not (so long as you didn't intentionally set out to break it), Busse will repair or replace the knife!! SoooooooooWEET, yes?? :D:thumbup:

Welcome to our forum!! Feel free to ask questions and make yourself at home!

Oh yeah... "MNSFNOLEXYZ123?" That's short for "Nuclear Meltdown (ya got the 'N' & 'M' switched around) Special Forces Natural Outlaw X-tra Yakuza Zap... Do I want One, Two, or Three?? ...See why we abbreviate these model names??? ;):D:D:D lolz!! Have fun!

My Virginian brother speaks truths!!! Listen to this wise HOG, for he knows the ways of the INFI!

Welcome aboard!! Keep your ears on the exchange board. Great deals are there to be had for those willing to take the plunge, and to those already sucked into the madness!!

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO there...

Run?

Just watched the knife tests review of the Busse Basic 9 and skimped through the FBM... How can I run from such an indestructible knife!!!

Start saving up... Now!

Is INFI the only steel here?

Is it "Bus-se" or "bUss-E"? u know... like "pu-ssy"...

What steel is the DogFather and how does it compare to a FBM? If it means getting my hands on something faster I'd do it...

Welcome Bro!!! Like what has already been said, just watch the X-change and be prepared to just send money... All kidding aside, the best Knives in the land are BUSSE...

Welcome aboard! I dont know what can be said that hasnt. Just keep your eyes peeled and watch the sites and the exchange. Deals do come up but you gotta be quick on the draw. If your looking for something in particular you can ask around about it.

They do SEEM expensive, but that goes away once you start using them and appreciating what great tools they are and what great service Busse and the family knives have. I hope you stick around.
