Hi Everybody!

You won't be disappointed with any of the Busse Kin. Swamprat, and Scrapyard knives will both give you tons of bang for the buck. They are both going to be super tough knives to choose from. The Dogfather will be just as tough as infi. It might not be quite as good on overall edge retention (but i think you would have to be a machine to notice the difference). It might not be quite as rust resistant as infi. If you find one on the exchange it would be a great place to start.

Many infi owners also buy swamprats and scrapyard knives as well. I actually think they are both great values.

Infi is just more expensive because little magical creatures live in it , and they will come out and give you wishes, and curse yore enemies with Hemorrhoids. If you can snag a NMFBM they are 11 inches in the blade department. If you start saving your pennies, you could luck out and hit the infi market right as the Boss releases the Hogzilla, the Khukri model with a 12 inch blade, but I bet new price even on a combat grade will be over your $400 limit.

I love my FBMLE, but would love a Dogfather, or a battlerat too.

I find three things that help ease the pain of my new INFI addiction,
1. I keep saying to myself, "NO REGRETS"
2. I take some sips of my favorite single malt,
3. I hold in my hand one of my 3 Busses that i purchased in the last two months and i smile and then attack the local trees with them!

that cyprus was giving me a nasty look anyway!!

Welcome aboard! You will have lost of fun here, and spend lots of money if you arn't carful! Keep an eye out on the exchange you may be able to snag an FBM in your range.
There is a new beast that is comming out some time in the future, The Zilla. You may be able to find a deal from some one selling an FBM to get the cash for the zilla.

Good luck!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Ya'z right, it's too late. You can thank knife tests destruction for that... This thing doesn't want to die!

On the good side, I live in NYC so like i said, I don't have too much use for fixed blades, and I'm not much of a collector unless I can justify a use for a particular knife. So far my most expensive knife is a ZT300TAD that i got for $230 on the exchange, a $250 Shun kitchen knife, and many in the $1xx area, so $600 for INFI steel is a HUGE jump.

Zilla eh? Sounds like a large knife, maybe in my size preference. Buy it new for cheaper? Sounds like a deal! But right now I really want a FBM. What is a FFBM? And is there a NMFFBM? I really like that NM look... Are magnum handles just bigger?

CG FBM. Combat Grade Fusion Battle Mistress, the one with the funny lateral grooves (CBT). If you are patient and lucky, you might score a user on the Exchange for $400 - $425. Many consider this the best all-rounder of the FBM family. The original price varied with the coating and handle options. Magnums have thicker scales.

FBM LE. Limited Edition. Thicker than the CG, flat ground, satin finish. Was $697 originally.

FFFBM. Fat Flat FBM Thick, sabre ground. A heavy beast, pure chopper.

NM FBM. Nuclear Melted FBM Longer, with a full height convex grind.

NMFBM LE. Satin finish. Was $797.

There are some other NYC Hogs. Try to get together with one, so you can fondle some INFI.
