Hi 'Hawk

Actually I was picturing a something will fuller.

I do like to smaller three to four inch long edged hawks. Cold steel has an interesting one or two.

I think the big problem was getting good enough wood in Nepal for handles suitable for throwing.

Hi Guys
simple solution, have the kami make the heads only, haft them ourselves.
I'd be up for some.

Wouldn't 5160 be tough enough for throwing? I bet a hawk head from HI would be dirt cheap too!

Been there, tried that::grumpy:
Bill said it wasn't worth the trouble to try to get them made. The eye of the 'Hawk would vary all over the place with no standard handle and we figured that there wasn't enough people skilled enough to make their own handles. There won't be any HI 'Hawk's.:(
Crazy Crow Trading Post at http://www.crazycrow.com/index.php has some decent 'Hawks at decent prices. Be sure and get their forged models.:D

Link is now fixed...:D

Have you checked out the axe and tomahawk forum? There are a lot of good 'hawk forgers out there. I don't see the point of going through the HI 'special order' hassles - ask Pen about it.

Let's hold out for the HI cleaver. OR- just make a very slight half moon curve to the existing AK bowie and it'll do Kitchen work as well as a little Jim Bowie rib ticklin in the dark.

I got a banchero, which looks to have a great deal of potential, but the- uh, whatever that "loop" is that the haft goes through- wasn't quite circular. And the attachment sucked- always felt like it was going to fly off.

The little ax is getting a nice new haft installed by my friend Kaylee of THR.

I like the HI cleaver idea....but either (cleaver or hawk) will probably have to wait...:(

(...remain a fantasy)

I do think, however, that the kamis must enjoy the "new ideas" we keep sending them.

Pen, if I ground a little off both ends of the edge of a AK Bowie, I'd have a cleaver of sorts.

But a real cleaver would be neat.

I was thinking something along the lines of the knives that N2S posted a while back...Big Pointy Cleavers...
