I'd say just strip the paint off of the entire thing and put a nice unique patina on it.

looks like its coming along nice, glad you were able to get the sheath dulling fixed.
 
Yesterday both the scales and the clip arrived! :)

With the scales the knife is much more usable, I highly recommend to buy them.
