I have such a serious problem::eek:

So when I started this journey, I really only wanted to try some festive steel; its about 2002, and I shop around and read up a bunch on here, and finally decide I should get a Walmart Native. Reasoning: it comes in S30V, and its not gawd-awful humongous like that PM1 or that utterly ridiculous Military. Shoot, I'm upgrading from a 15 yr old Gerber EZ-out with ATS 34, so this is gonna be badass.

Fine and Dandy. But then I thought, " you know what, I oughtta have 1 stupid big knife, right?" "RIGHT!" So, I round up a S90V Military. I like it pretty good, and I get some more over the next 3 yrs, can't remember the order exactly, but about like so:
S90V - CF
M4 - Black G10/Ti
CTS-XHP - Brown G10

And then after about 3 or 4 of the sprints, I said: "Man you got a bunch of those, shouldn't need too many more, right?"
Well I was right, and I ended up with big Manixes, (old C95 Sprint and a new XL in S90V), and a PM2, and a ZDP Endura (with Krein grind), and a Salt (never know when your going to swim in a pool of boiling sulphuric acid...gotta have that)

And then some BM's crept in there, 940, 943, 531, LFK, 9100, and then some oddballs: Opinel, at least 2 Bokers, maybe a few others here and there,

And there for a while, it was OK, but there was some steel in that shockingly right-sized Military package that I probably need. OK, fine:
Cruwear - Gray G10
D2 - Green G10
M390 - CF

Oh, jeez, I gotta chill out, I have got enough $$ in knives here to buy a moderately beat up used car. I gotta step back!

Well then I got to fooling with LED lights, and while I'm not so bad as some of the dudes on CPF, I have a good solid house payment tied up in all kinds of lights.
Started with a Fenix LD01, and as of now I have everything from a Surefire 6P, Malkoff dropins for a 6D mag, 3 or 4 2 x CR123 lights, up to a Thrunite TN32

Oh man! This LED crack ain't no better than that knife heroin! What the hell am I thinking? I gotta stop!

Week later I'm on the BF sale forum, and now, the different handles are starting to speak to me
S30V - Black G10
S30V - Orange G10
S30V - Full Ti, no insert

Here we are ~13yrs later and I own 9 Militaries, and I have one more on the way. They are all PE, and I have one in my pocket 60-70% of the time:

BG-42 - CF (on the way)

I got another 2 dozen various pig-stickers, and every time I get a work anniversary that rates a prize, I get a knife or so:
5 yr - SAK
10 yr - Case Blade Changer or whatever its called
15 yr - Set of Henkels kitchen knives

Started thinking I don't wanna die without a Sebenza.
Probably should have an XM-24, might need that pretty bad.
Hell, one of them Bill Henry's would make a fine 20th anniversary present from my wife, should have something dressy for when I go to corporate, right?
Shoot, when I DO die, wouldn't my son really like that I passed down a full custom? Sure he would!

I'm so far down the rabbit hole, I can't even remember what daylight looks like.

Hello Fred. Remember service is really important to your recovery. So gradually start sending me all of your used knives. Or is that enabling? I can't ever remember .

It's genetic, My kid tells me all the time: "When I get big, I want that one" (pointing to whichever knife or darksucker I'm fondling at the time). I'm afraid he's ahead of you in line.

Wow, after I owning 35+ knives, I finally figured out what worked for and what didn't, and went on a selling spree. That started April 2014, and hasn't stopped. I've picked up a few here and there, but I'm down to 7 folders. Got a custom coming eventually, and will probably pick up one more in between.

Luckily, I've found that the most popular styles of knives currently are not for me. Ti framelocks and/or overbuilt knives. There are a lot of knives I would own if they didn't have metal handles.

Welcome aboard.
Don't forget that CRK has stopped using mammoth bark, so a mammoth bark mnandi is going to be a nice addition.

You also don't seem to have many traditional knives, take a look at the 2015 blade forums knife as a good intro, you might as well see if you can still find a Sodbuster in O1 and a GEC Beer Scout for a cap lifter pattern.

The Sodbuster and beer scout would have to be picked up from the exchange. There were still a few bladeforums knives still available last time I checked.

So now I gotta get a nose full of traditionals to see if I can start down that road? Sounds .... Kinda good actually!

NJBillK is right, you should use the opportunity to grab a small Sebenza with mammoth too.
Hope this helps.

Part of the addiction is I can't let em go, I think I have every knife ever except for a couple I gifted, A Benchmade Fecas Offsider and a teeny SAK, and the inevitable lost knives (1 or 2) when I was a kid

What would suck is if your kid says years from now, "Dad, I dont want your old man knives. I prefer this paramilitary 3 or sage 7. You can sell those".

@red, yeah, I use em. Just to prevent safe queen problems, when I get something new, I use the knife to carve up the packaging, and then they ride in my pocket for a week or so, and then they go into the rotation, I generally change knives every week or so. All of mine are users, except for the medium sucky work anniversary deals. The full Ti military and Boker Epicenter are pretty heavy, so they get a bit less love.

@smooth
If he don't want em, I will

@JC57
Its all good, Biggest help I need is more funds, gotta feed the monkey

Hey Fred!
There are meetings once a week to help with this insidious addiction.....first one I went to I bought a sprint PM2.....that I had 2 of.
Stay out of the meetings!!

And now that TX is cool with autos, who knows what might happen, seems like I might need a Troodon or a Makora.
A Sawby self lock wouldn't suck too bad, and I've always sorta lusted after a festive Elishewitz.
If I found a bunch of gold in the back yard, an Appleton (Ron or Ray, either one) would likely be prudent.
If a guy came across a Lochsa laying around, be foolish to let that get away.

It would be a lot easier if those gas station knives were my deal

So many knives, so little $$

SNIP

I'm so far down the rabbit hole, I can't even remember what daylight looks like.

This made me laugh! Why? Because it is soooo me.

I have over 2 dozen fixed blades of various sizes, shapes, lengths, blade steels, thicknesses, etc. About 2 years ago I started to do more primitive treks into the woods, so I decided I needed a good primary and secondary knife to take with me. Then the drug hit me as well and I simply couldn't stop. I researched every single one of them first - so they weren't impulse purchases - but I kept finding variations that intrigued me so I clicked the Buy button. Again and again and again.

Same thing happened with EDC folders as well; I have at least 2 dozen of those. I rotate them every few weeks because I always have a knife on me, so those get more usage. That's my way of justifying it anyway. ;) It's been fun though. Expensive, but fun.

Wow, after I owning 35+ knives, I finally figured out what worked for and what didn't, and went on a selling spree.

Hopefully that will be me soon. I just gotta start thinning the herd. 50 or so knives is just too many, even for me.

I don't have a problem. I can stop whenever I want. I just need to figure out how to fund unlimited wants with limited means.....And hope the custom bug doesn't get me. I have enough bloody issues with sprint runs of production models.

The more new knives that are released that I like, the more I consider robbing a bank.
