That's only because I received my most recent knife in the mail 6 hours ago and haven't made a purchase since then ;) . I'm actually new to collecting knives, having begun doing so only 2 full months ago! I know, impressive LOL. Anyway...pretty sure I'm an addict. Here's a pic of what I've put together so far. Just thought I'd share; I'm afraid what it'll look like after 1 calendar year. http://s172.photobucket.com/user/csb_09/library/Knife collection 2 months in?sort=3&page=1 . Bladeforums = angel and devil in one online package...

Thats a good start! I started out the same way a few years back, but have now settled into the 25-30 knife range. I will sell ones I don't use and get a new one to replace it. The great thing is you start to see what you like and don't like, and it makes you much more choosy as you grow as a collector.

Steps:

1. See knife online and fall in love with it.
2. Order knife.
3. Wait anxiously for knife to arrive.
4. Receive knife.
5. Drool over new knife for 5 minutes.
6. Get back online and begin looking for next knife.
7. Rinse.
8. Repeat.

It's a vicious cycle with which we're all familiar. :D

I think I have an idea of how this will play out. Actually, it is already beginning. I see myself keeping most of what I have but investing in a half dozen or so customs. WR Bladeworks, Direware (maybe), Crusader Forge (definitely), another Dalibor, etc. I already know I don't like fixed blades which is why I completely forgot to include a shot of my ESEE-6 LOL. I don't think I'll ever be "that guy (or girl)" with a hundred, or hundreds, of knives. I would find that overwhelming.

I'm just about at this point. I haven't sold any yet but may part with some soon. Do you do any type of oiling or maintenance on your collection?

You my friend haves dropped a lot a cash in a short amount of time. Good luck.

Yes, I coat them all thinly with mineral oil to prevent corrosion and keep my pivots relatively tight as I loathe lateral blade play. I also add a drop or two of a "secret solution" in the pivots to keep them smooth. I had a total budget in mind, when this all began, so things wouldn't ever get out of control. Fortunately, I have left enough in that budget to allow for several customs. Once I've purchased those I like most, I will work within what I've invested and may begin trading more. Who knows? It's an enjoyable process. I know this: I will ALWAYS have several CRK's. There's just something about them...

Good gawd man!!
If you can do this do it!
I got in a $$ hole but got out!
Nice pack!!!

I figured out a way to "save" money for knives.

Every time I ask a girl out and she says "NO", :( I put the money I would have spent on the date in a jar and use that money to buy another knife. :)

Since the "date money" would have come from my entertainment budget and I get enjoyment from getting a "new to me" knife, my knife purchases are budgeted and it all works out over the long run.

The only bad thing is that the number of knives I now have doesn't say a lot positive about my social life. :(

F#@#$,, I know the feeling . I got over 120 and I still cant stop!! SELL SOMETHING TO BUY SOMETHING NEW, then rebuy what u sold!!

The trick is try to only buy what u cant loose more than a few bucks.....

I've been sober for over a year.. Unfortunately a college budget and no job until the end of the semester will do that to ya.. I know I'll be buying a knife this summer, the moons and stars are aligned.

Wow, that is exactly what happens to me!

I dig the Lion steel, you've amassed a nice, well rounded collection of modern folders. You could always be spending money more foolishly, than buying useable stuff you enjoy.

wow you're two months in and your collection blows my 4 year collection out of the water. You sir have deep pockets that were obviously filled :D I even have more knives... lol I've been sober for about two months actually. I bought an opinel but that's not a lot of knife. I love it though and I've been fine since. I think of myself as lucky, most people start with a rat 1 or a tenacious then move on to say a pm2 then a strider and a sebenza then maybe a few customs and some hinderers and that will go on for a good while, maybe they will move on to traditional slip joints and the higher end stuff there, maybe go on a fixed blade kick and after x amount of time they settle down and narrow their collection to a small one of their favorite knives and then only buy a new one here and there and use all of them. I skipped over all of that custom knife 1000 dollar mid techs malarky and i'm content with my opinel, a victorinox compact and my pm2 or ritter griptilian and a ps4 squirt. I don't really use any other of my knives but I just can't seem to get rid of them and plus if I did then what would I have to put in my display case and my spyderpack? lol.
