Does anyone know if the HI Kerambit is still available? I did not see it on the HI website.

Thanks,

Bill

It's typically not a stock item. Usually only available during special orders or the DOTD.

Eric.

there was a burst in availability a few weeks/month ago...

try dropping auntie yangdu a line at HIMIMP@aol.com
im sure she will be able to assist you in your search for an HI kerambit :)

hehe... prepare for HIKV :D

DOTDs are posted every other day by auntie yangdu herself right here in the HI forum...
attached are a few examples of recent deals of the day:

15" bas may still be there for only $75... wouldnt be surprised if its already one though.

lol sorry, kinda got carried away there... a khukuri would go nicely with that kerambit if you snag one hehe *evil grin*.

happy sharking brother... feel free to ask any questions
we are all here to assist a fellow HI enthusiast in the making :p

Thanks for your help. I'll have to keep my eye on these deals.

In the meantime, can you tell me what a village knife is? How does it differ from others?

blades do not come with a super shiny mirror polish finish...
handles instead of smooth & shiny (finished) come rough and grippy (unfinished) providing perfect traction for a more secure grip...
blades? hmmmm i would compare it to a satin brushed finished and they come sharper than the polished versions ready to use...
villager knives make fine fine users  :D infact they scream USE ME USE ME USE ME!!!
since you dont have to worry about ruining the mirror finish like on regular models :p
you'll prolly have problems putting one down lol.

BUT!!!! nothing beats the mirror polished finish of an HI khuk... they call it "magic mirror"
if youre an ogler and not a user like me (at the moment)... plain models sure are SEXY *drool*

no matter what finish... an HI khuk is an HI khuk, they will function the same and take an ass whoopen!!! have fun deciding

im sure others will chime in with their experiences and opinions... hehe
sit tight and ohhh... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)

i doubt we'll see many kerambits for a while. they weren't selling very quickly in the recent D'sOTD. HI is a business and they do cater to demand. how many times were we threatened with the discontinuation of a beloved-but-not-often-enough-bought model like the sgain dubh? i suspect recent emails and the sudden spike in the mention of the word "tarwar" on the forums had something to do with the latest surprise.

the last one for $60 sold quick lol... you never know
DOTD can be quite unpredictable and at any rate a simple inquiry wouldnt hurt :)
i obtained a few pieces not popping up in DOTD by email... if you cant wait then you can pay :p

we all have heard about the famous storage shed... who knows whats stored inside there :D
(yay! i think i have enough to fill up a rack like that... lmao)

EDIT: WOOOOHOOOOOO!!! IT JUST HIT 12AM here in san francisco... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

HI Kerambits are misunderstood...Just like me:(

Are they really a Kerambit or a sick Hybrid??

Who knows?

Anywho..

It is NOT a very small knife...You need some sweet sheathage going on to carry it properly...Dan Koster makes the sweetest kydex sheaths for HI kerambits that I have seen

Good Luck with your search...I am in the market for another one myself! :)

I now have 20 of them in my collection, but its not a knife for everyone it is large and you do need to spring for a better sheath. It can be an great fighter if you have some training but so is a Bowie. Like many styles you either like them a lot or don't like them at all.

I would buy them all day long at $60 the DOD are almost always $100, and when I sell mine it will be for more

you don't think she offered it at $60 because it wasn't selling strongly at $100?

i want one too.

they're pretty sweet at $80 too. $60 was fast, $110 was dead slow, they trickle out at $100, and lower people perk up. could be that everyone has one now ;) price talks.

now, a foxy bit, that should be $70 ;) i'll take two :>
