HI Khukri Newbie

Welcome to the Kantina, 4Ranges.

You did a good deal, I presume. But take care of "best khuk" kinds of thought! I, like most of other HIKV carriers on the forum, believed I did best choice when I bought my first HI khukuri. I still believe so, and I never regret my choice.

But why, I occasionally find "yet another best" khukuri....

Wrongfriend, I've been meaning to tell you this, yours is the most disturbing avatar in a forum of disturbing avatars.

Really?

I've seen a few others that scare me more...

Like Bill Marsh's Possum (no offense, Bill)

The one that is the MOST frightening is the one that looks like this:

jim l clifton

bwahhhaaaahaa!

My choice of khuks came down to this:

WWII model for all things earthly.

Sirupati for the evil hordes of the apocalypse. LOL!

Yeah, but the possum doesn't get into any bizarre sexual/stereotype/reversal in your face....whatever..scantily clad, well developed woman of mating ritual years looking sleepless and psychotic and wielding a 2' foot Khuk between her legs..? I mean, if you get close enough to this gal to offer a first born male son, will she behead you after or during? And what is a 'head' to her?

NOw, pose the possum with a banana between its legs and you have something

Fox jaw was number one until I saw Wrongfriend's. Someone said, "hey Foxjaw, don't look now but your Khuk is showing." I know some women and gay men who'd like to have that poster. But you know...I once thought seriously of posing my month old baby on the stock of my M1 Garand just because an (now ex) friend of mine was so adamantly and stupidly against guns....

"What would you think of that?" I asked.
"A disturbing image." He said, and looked at me like he didn't know me any more. He was right. He didn't.

I guess your monitor is better resolution than mine, Munk. I thot it was a pic of an anime chik in black neoprene holding a big blade, nothing more. I'll have to gole closer, I guess...

4 Ranges,
You will love the 25" Sirupati. I love mine. I find no problem weilding it. Most of my khuks are in the 18ish size range, and that is a good overall size I feel, but I LOVE the big ones more. I have always thought that if alot was good, then more was better, and that leads me to the belief that too much must be just right, for me that is. HeHeHe I hope you love them all, as I do.

munk, there's a misunderstanding in terms of perspective. She in my avatar holds her sword in front of her in guarding position based on JKD martial art.

Disturbingness aside (sorry, munk), there will happen a copyright problem with the avatar gif pic, and I've been searching for an adequate alternative. You might miss the cyborg gal then...

Oh heck, WrongFriend, I collected underground and above ground comics for years...I'm not 'disturbed". I thought it was unusual. My description, with a lot of truth, was mostly exageration for your humorous consideration. If I have to explain that then no one laughed. Bummer.

Make no mistake, people in advertising and pop arts know exactly what they are doing and what buttons to push. What I like about the dead waving possum avatar is that it parodies avatars and popular symbols...if I had an signature...that dead possum is after my own heart.

And of symbols; my Father has a Nazi flag captured in France neither of us want to display. His late friend, a paratrooper, brought it back after jumping into France. It was given to my father, who served but the war ended before he saw action. Now he wants to get rid of it. !!Anyone want to buy a real Nazi flag?!! If symbols and words mean nothing, then the flag would have been shown at our homes. My Dad and I just feel it is wrong for us to display it for any reason. I think the late paratrooper could have displayed it in a den proudly, but not for us.

Welcome to the Cantina 4 Ranges,
As you can see, conversations here are not always about edged tools/weapons. But, they are always interesting. Now I'm going back through old postings scrutinizing Avatars. At what point did Maui Rob acquire those goblinlike features anyway?

I'm not sure about the archives, but in the current forums the avatar is dynamic. For every message displayed, the forum software pulls the currently selected avatar image for that author. When you choose a new avatar, the old one vanishes from the forum and is replaced by the new one.

munk, now I'm sure I understood. Let's quit avatar talk (sounds strange) and let the thread go on its way. Look forward to my next avatar in the future... more disturbing one!

Disturbing....try Deathlok the Demolisher...or the Wizard in Starlin's The Price. But, trademark problems...probably..

munk,

I suspect that you would enjoy the "collage novels" created by the artist Max Ernst in the 1930s. You may have to go to a good university library to find them unfortunately. Reproductions have been published, but all are probably now out of print. One might be still available from Dover Publications.
