HI Khuks versus Busse Battle Mistress

you should see it next to a 30" ak  (got 30 after bm was gone, but will soon have a mr. mojo (and eventually a mr. mofo) to compare it too. both of wich are steel heart length))

I agree with the "completely different animal" comment....how could you compare the two?

well, for what its worth, the battle mistress should be compared to a 15" ang khola, but i do not have one... acutally, it may be closer to a 15" sirupati (but i no longer have a bm  )

but ya... the 15" sirupati still feels like a better chopper then the bm ever did. a large part of that is do to what felt like a good 1/2 of the weight of the battle mistress being located in the handle, where as the siru is all out front.

The MOFO is no chopper but the balance is really something - wanna trade back bro ??

:p

i havent actually gotten it yet, but when i do, if your unhappy with the trade, i can send it back.

it would be worth it just to see what the difference between the mofo and the mojo is first hand...

Ok,
I am curious, does anyone have a picture of one of these : Battle Mistress, AK, or khuk? I'm just a busy Chef weilding razor blades in the kitchen, never seen one of these stump busters. Share please?
Thanks,
Edward

Hello Chef2,
For more photos, check out BFC member Gator97's page: http://zvis.com/knives/knimgalfx.shtml
He has shots of HI khuks, including the Ang Khola (AK), and of Busse Battle Mistresses. For more Battle Mistress pics, go here:

This site has photos of most, if not all, blades put out by Busse Combat Knives, as well as a lot of Jerry Busse's older work.

Hope this helps,
Jeremy

I'll reiterate most of what's said before, but Busse's are not differentially tempered, they're thru tempered, and rely on the "nuclear toughness" of the INFI-Carbon Steel to keep them together. The "perfect-ness" of INFI is due to it's crazy composition, of which has been debated over for a while...

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Cliff Stamp's excellent reviews on 2 earlier versions of the BM; The Normal Straight-Handled, and the "Ergo", or curved-handled-ergonomic-handled Battle Mistress...

He's also put them head-to-head with similar large brush blades...

One Review

And another

IMOHO: The Khuk beats the Busse, hands down, in terms of chopping ability. Plus, you get 2 torture knives in the bargain! :D;):D Seriously tho, for the price, warranty, customer service, fit, finish and overall performance, why choose anything other than a Khuk? ;)
