Sundsvall,

I am also a newbie here. I was warmly welcomed and my lack of research and knowledge was tolerated.

I’ve had about 25 go through my hands in the last few weeks, through the generosity of Uncle Bill and the rest of Cantina. I have noticed that some of the same models and sizes have different feels. I have not had a chance to try them all yet really work anyone out.

Each is an individual feel and character. I have noticed a trend on what feels good in my hands and seems to work for my style. It will be different for all of us.

My recommendation is to do what I did. I contacted Uncle Bill via email. I told him a bit about myself and what I was looking for then let him ship me what he thought would be appropriate. I was not disappointed in the least, what he sent exceeded all my expectations!

Though I have never met Uncle Bill, or any other member of the cantina, I can tell you he is a man of honor.

S/F, Mike

All the kind words!!! -- I must have gotten up on the right side of the bed for a change.

Many thanks.

I did it - ordered the 18" AK from Uncle Bill today - on sale to boot.

I chose the 18" AK over the Chiruwa AK for several reasons:

Thanks to Pendentives analytical drawings - I was able to see that the 18" would fit my hand better than the Chiruwa AK.

Also, this will be primarily a camp chopper so I decided that any little bit of shock absorption the "regular" handle can provide will be appreciated.

Welcome to the dark side... er khuk side!

You can never go back.:D

But then, there's no reason to do so.

Sundsvall - you're very welcome. Now, when you get the AK, give us a good report. Field reports are really the best way to tell...
