Yangdu wanted me to let you guys know she's expecting a large shipment, like NOW, and that the new AK Cleavers will be here as well as other goodies.

She probably won't be able to post any DOD's (but that's not written in Iron, I mean, it could happen. ) today or-- until the shipments come, and we all know how troubled Nepal is at the moment.

Special Orders:
Yangdu has accepted more special orders than ever before in HI history. Bill did not like special orders even when things in Nepal were calm. All of us know by now Yangdu's incredible effort to keep HI afloat, and that she's improved HI in all areas. I don't know how, but she's done it.
Because of the delays in shipping, have patience and understand Special Orders will come when they come, and everything that is earthly possible to make it happen is being done.

Yangdu is working hard, too hard, but what you gonna do?

( side step Mr. Bush's stem cell restrictions and get working on a Yangdu clone....?)

Are you asking what they look like or the dimensions or what?:confused:

I've got one from the second batch in my hand right now:D

Steely just posted a pic of the cleaver not too long ago. It's around this forum someplace....dern Secretary, not only is she a figment of my imagination, but she's left the place a mess and I can't find anything.

The AK cleaver is basically the AK Bowie without the clip point. The edge has been straightened so you can slice and dice on a cutting board in the Kitchen. It looks pretty awesome too.

I'm totally impressed with the whole operation anymore also the dissemination of information.

I didn't realize that about the Special orders! Cool!

Yangdu is one of the BEST! A very honest and sincere person. Did I tell you I LIKE HER!. She is great to talk to in person. She has a sincere interest in you as a person, not only as a customer of HI.

As Munk said, the AK Cleaver or Munk Chunk Cleaver (MCC) is a mock up for the current AK Bowie. However, this one is actually a more accurate model to the design of Cobalt's design, just slightly tweeked by Munk to make it a better kitchen knife.
The specs:
Over all 15.25"
spine thickness: .5"
blade width: 2 5/8"
weight: 32oz:eek:
Handle grip is thick. Almost too thick for me, but I have taken a dremel to the antler. I gave up the sky and fish, but was able to keep Thunderbird;)
The blade has two shallow fullers.
It swings like an axe, slices like a chef's knife, and commands respect when you heft it.

It's going to get it's first true blue work out tomorrow night. I'm helping a friend move, and usually every time we get together much talking and laughing is done around the fire pit out back.

Think of the MCC as the AK bowie injected with bull hormone;)

Thanks for reposting the pic Jake. That says it all. No job too big in the kitchen or out for that one. NOTE: Add to wish list.

Thanks for keeping us supplied with such a wonderful set of knives Yangdu. There's no end to the variety and the quality is always there. Take care.:) :thumbup:
 
Yangdu truly is awesome. The things that HI is putting out are truly fantastic. I recently recieved notification from Yangdu that my blade idea has been sent to the Birgorkha factory. I can't wait to see what happens with it. Here is a pic and a link to the thread,

Man, its hard to improve upon a Randall Sasquatch, but Im sure the boys over in Nepal are capable of it :) .
 
Yangdu is doing a fantstic job where others might've given up. That's a smart, tough lady, and she has all my respect.

I can't wait to see whats in this shipment. Ohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy.
