HI Seax + special etch by Ferrous Wheel (pics!)

Beoram,
Many thanks, I just had a good read! This forum is really a quite interesting place. Hopefully I will have quite a bit of fun here, in the future, as well.

I have tested mine and it feels wonderful in-the-hand. It inspires confidence just holding it. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I'm holding a piece of history - even if it's just a replica. Of course, I feel the same every time I unsheath a khukuri...;)

After a little sharpening, I found it to cut very well - just like a large bowie, in fact. It sailed right through the 2x4 and kept it's edge well enough to cut paper. I'm quite happy with it. I hope there is another run some time. Hopefully Keith will still be interested in etching runes, etc.

Beo - I'll post a write-up when I get back from my trip. Oh...I'll be taking a week off starting Monday, btw...

:D

truck - I hope you'll stick about :) There is a very interesting group of people here, from many places and walks of life. I've learnt a lot here.

Pen - look forward to it.

Hope you have a nice holiday! :D

cheers,
--Ben

Nice. The scabbard the sarki made leaves a lot to be desired. How much for the new scabbard?

p.s. inscription says 'Michael owns me'? Is it?

If so, I hope (like bobwhite) that we could get some langseaxes, somewhere in the 18-21" overall length...deep single fuller per side...

Cavedweller - Yep, I can do that no prob.

truck - soulds like Boe got the innfo hookup 4 U on seaxes. I might also point you to the Seax design thread which is chock full of discussions on the seax, the HI seax, and pix of other seaxes current and past. There was even a god of the Seax in old Heathen europe called Saxneat (Seaxnot). Here is a link to the thread:

Good read and pix. Gives you an idea what it takes to get a custom HI product from concept to finish.

The etching is done with FeCl, Ferric Chloride. Available an most Radio Shacks.

I don't remember the exact price, it was part of a larger order, but I'm sure Terry could fill you in. His email is t_sarki@yahoo.com

It was either that or, "I'm with Stupid." ;)
