Does anyone know where I can find some hi-vis orange para cord that is also reflective? I seen some somewhere, but I can't find any on-line.

I don't know, but I want some too. I had seen some at one time, but i don't know where they got it. I'd buy a big ass spool of that stuff if I could find it.

1sks says that it has some on sale right now. Scroll to the bottom for Reflective Orange paracord. 550-RCOM550-100FT-OR
Should be orange as the Part #has OR at the end. You might call just to check. If I had some money I'd get some myself.

Check REI. I bought some there last year in a 50 foot length. I don't see it on the website though.

My local REI (the flagship Seattle store) does not sell paracord. They do however sell Kelty Triptease which is a thin reflective burnt-orange line. They also sell PMI Niteline which is a stiff reflective AND glow-in-the-dark cord...but it's blue and white.

Here's a lanyard I made using the PMI Niteline:

mikeymoto,

Do you know what the breaking strength rating of the PMI Niteline is? Also could you give us a description and/or review of it?

Thanks.

The vendor does not publish the load-bearing capacities of this cord on their web site. The fact that it's listed in the "accessory cord" section makes it seem to me like you don't want to expect a lot from it.

I haven't used the cord a lot; the only observations I can share are:

  • It's stiff, making it difficult to work knots really tight.
  • You can't as easily melt frayed ends as you can with paracord. On this stuff it doesn't get melty, it more readily catches fire.
  • The outer sheathing covers what seems like a thick core of very fine fibers, if I recall correctly.

Today I'm wearing a neck lanyard I made with it, and looking at that I'll also say it shows no noticeable abrasion after several months of wear while at work.

I'm confused as to why some of you think the supplycaptain.com prices are to high. If you page down on the above link, they sell 100 foot lengths for $7.00. That's about right for paracord.

I have been using the PMI Niteline for lanyards and braided fobs for a couple months now. It does show dirt worse than other cords because the GID part is white, but overall it seems to be holding up pretty well.

I just ordered 4 100ft lines of the neon stuff from supplycaptain.com. We'll see how it does. I like the reflective cord, but i think this stuff will serve my purpose.

One comment on the reflective cord I've used (not the paracord, but I wouldn't be surprised if the following observation applies to it as well) is that the angle of reflection is very low, meaning that you basically have to be in the same plane as the light source and in-line with the cord to see the reflection off the cord.

Here's two links. Haven't ordered from either of them yet, but they have a good selection of colors.

TAD Gear has some glow in the dark stuff, but I think its sold out. They may have had some cord with a reflective strand woven in, but it was a smaller than standard para cord. http://www.tadgear.com

I usually get balck and olive drab at Sportsman's Guide, its pretty cheap there.

Though it is nonreflective, the neon orange 550 paracord from SupplyCaptain.com works great for finding things in the shadows.

I LOVE that bright orange paracord!!! Its not reflective, but it does what I need it to do. I buy mine from countycomm.com .
