Hibben Draon Lord..... Piece of junk?

But here's the thing, if you know it's total junk, and if anyone who sees it and knows anything about knives knows it's total junk, why would you possibly want to display it?

Ah. Crap. Well, at least I know to never get lured in by a fantasy knife again until the next time I do. So if there's no real way to actually get this thing tightened down, would it be better to try to tear it down and salvage the blade, or just keep it as a ceremonial chicken execution tool?

I would not be surprised if the blade steel is not even heat treated. As such, it would make for a poor salvage blade.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't touch a hibben except to throw it in the trash.

If it's your kind of thing, power to you.

I don't think it's salvageable as a knife.

If you say what you are looking for in a knife (use, cost, looks, etc) you may get some very helpful replies.

Welcome to the forums!

Have you contacted Amazon about trying to return it? Tell them it came loose and don't mention the jb weld... You will have to pay for shipping back and possibly a restocking fee but you might get the majority of your $ back.

That's always been my line of thought with fantasy/"display" knives, swords, etc. And even if I was the only one that ever saw it for what it was, I'd still know and it would bother me. :o

But you know what? It served a very valuable purpose--it got the OP here! Goodness knows how many of us started with this hobby thanks to a Hibben, Kit Rae, or other similar knife.

Definitely a display knife. I would not recommend using it or even trying to break it as it may snap in two and skewer you. like this

I would not try to use it for anything ever. That handle will come off, and you will watch in slow motion as the blade spins off, bounces off of something and comes back and hits you in the eye.

Ah, well at least I know to never waste money on something like this again. I'll probably stick it in a box somewhere and try to forget about it, though beating the snot out of it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Though yeah, at least it got me here. I'll try to stick around and learn some stuff. You say an ESEE would be a good hard-use knife?

So would a Mora, if you want a really awesome knife that's all ten dollars and functional.

Then you save and do your research before buying the next ones!

hey gotta learn some how. dont feel bad, you have a wall hanger. We have all been down the same road with one product or another.
