A lot of work but really tasty nut meat. I have a lot of shagbark hickory trees on my property.
I have never done that many.
KR
I have a hard time cracking those things.

Boil them or bake in the oven for about 15 min and they are MUCH easier to crack. Some even crack by themselves. My Lab eats them shell and all. Sounds like he's eating gravel!--KV
Thanks you for the useful tip....I'll be shelling them in a week or so....
KR, How much meat/flesh will 500 yield?
There is meat in it? Are you just talking about nut? Like peanut material?
