I want to give this a shot and my only really problem I can foresee with do a hidden lanyard hole is as follows

I understand how to make it and set it all up but what I don't understand in my tiny little brain is when your glueing up

this thing how do you keep glue from sort of filling the gap and really messing things up?

This is the thread I'm talking about i4Marc's knife in particular http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1326155-Hidden-Thong-Hole

how do you keep the glue from oozing into your nice little hidden hole? Q-tips or somthing?

Any help would be appreciated! :D

Thanks Fellas!

I'm also interested in solutions to this, with the same problem applying to filework and other recesses in the profile.

I haven't tried these yet, but possible solutions may be to apply wax, cooking spray, or similar to the region you want masked off. In theory, that will keep the epoxy from curing to that region.

Then, after the epoxy is partially set, scrape the bulk of it out with a piece of wood. Once it's fully set, you should be able to use a brass scraper to remove the wax and remaining epoxy without scratching the steel too bad. However, scratching the handle material may still be an issue. Maybe a super thick layer of wax.

on the hidden lanyard hole I did, I didn't have a ton squeeze out. What did, I scraped out with a coffee stirrer. I had a little bit way down in the bottom after it dried, which i knocked off with a fine dremel grinding tip.

You can clean it out with a ball burr and a Dremel after it cures.
Or put in a piece of paracord when gluing, and as the glue sets up, pull the cord back and forth every minute or so. It will clean out the squeeze-out.

You definitely will get glue squeeze-out in the recess. Do not let it dry before you clean it out. After you get all your clamps in place, go around the areas of the handle you can and wipe excess glue away so it's not dripping all over the place. Then use dry Q-tips to remove as much glue as you can from the thong hole. When you have most of the glue out you can dampen Q-tips with alcohol and get the rest pretty spotless. Do not soak the Q-tips as you don't want liquid alcohol bleeding into your glue joint weakening it.

Thanks everyone! I feel like I can do this now! It have some good options.

Best Regards,
